Aerosol spray can to apply QDs, etc.

Yeah I can't decide if I want to order online or venture out to a Harbor Freight 30 minutes away, I'm hoping this will ease up on the amount of S&W I've been using...

You know, I'm not sure if you really want to use the fine mist that an aerosol provides when using SW. This is really a waterless wash for the minor dirt you get on your car during normal driving. Anything more and you need something like QEW. And if should then go on to things like mud and tar you will require a real shampoo.

If I used SW as ONLY a QD, it would be different but my application of it is as a cleaner. I almost always apply my SG home brew or somethng like Menzerna HGAS after I use SW because SW adds nothing, unlike AG or HGAS for example that provides some acrylic/polymer protection. But SW cleans better than any of them (smells better too!!!).

I think the issue is how you intend to use the SW. If it is primarily used as a sort of "mini" waterless wash (as I do), then a sprayer should work better. If you use it as, or use something instead like Poorboys AG or HGAS or even SG (in other words, as a gloss enhancer, sealant or protectant), then the aerosol method comes into its own.

If I'm going to "clean" minor dirt and road grime I want more SW on the vehicle than the aerosol will provide (although I guess you could use the large hole nozzel instead to max out the output).

BUT, having said all this I must admit I never tried SW in the aerosol can and I know of no one who has - so who knows - it might be perfect? It would be interesting for all you folks that purchased the can to resurect and chime in on this thread to tell of your various applications and how specific products worked as aerosols.

Thanks for the tip. I just bought 5. What color tip do you use for the HGAS?

I have not used HGAS in the aerosol can yet, only 425. The light green nozzel tip worked well with 425 at 70lbs of pressure (I have an electric compressor that regulates the amount of air loaded but I double check using a tire gauge). I think the goal is to apply just enough so that there is very little run off.

I plan on experimenting further using different products (including the HGAS you mentioned - which I like very much as a refresher over my SG), different nozzels and with various air pressures. Air pressure is easy to regulate in the can as you can fill or release the air easily - just like a tire. I have several more cans on the way so sooner or later I should be able to fine tune my spray for each product I use.

I probably will use one can for various QDs at first and after I'm done using each, I will simply pour the remaing contents back in the bottle, clean out the can and try another product. Once I get it right for each QD, I may dedicate a can for each one and mark the cans with the air pressure that works best for that particular QD. I'll do the same with AIO, SG, Jeffs Jett and whatever else I intend to use as an aerosol.

I don't see why they would not be washable. I addressed this earlier in the thread. It seems to me that you can pour the contents out and replace with water. Then, fill to the 70-90lb level and blow it out till dry. It does say the container can be used for anything from water to paint.

Got in touch about my order from harbor freight....said they are on back order untill 5/15/06

Thats sux.

Guess we all purchased to many at one time?? :(

I wanted to resurrect my original thread on this subject to see if anyone else who purchased these are using them, with what products and their results. I ordered several more when I found them on sale for half price but they are on backorder and won't be delivered until May.

For any of you Meguiar's Users looking for an Aerosol QD try

I was a little skeptical since I'm used to Trigger sprayers but I like the results and ease of use. I keep a lot of products in my car and I'm not worried about the cans falling over and spilling like the 32oz bottles in the back of my truck or the trigger twisting of while I'm driving.

put 50 lbs in mine like it said. Wasted my money. Or I did something wrong

What did you use in it? What happened? I found 70lb worked much better than anything else when using 425.

Used 425 it it. Just kinds of spits ou. Any help? Maybe to low of pressure?

I found it sort of spits out too after two or three applications. That is because the can will loose pressure the more it is used so I fill it up again to 70 lbs. However, it should work fine with 50 lbs as well. I have not had a probelm with clogging yet but yours might be so check that too. Also, be sure to have enough product in the can - at least 8oz.

Hi Shortspark

Can You get the link from the page where the Aerosol spray cans appear and paste it here?;I've tried every way I can think of to locate those $4.99 spray cans and Harbor keeps say that 1102-5vga does not exist. Boy is that frustrating.I will Appreciate any help You can give Me. Thank You or anyone who does. dymgarcia@yahoo.com

Not sure if these are the same as already discussed here, but in the past I purchased cooking oil type pump spray aerosol bottles from Walmart mostly to spray stuff like 303 and now PERL. They will work fine with QDs, APCs, etc. They're worth their weight in gold in terms of conserving product.
