Advice on tackling small chips

Hey guys, I currently have a magnetic black 370z and while it's in excellent condition, it does have a few few very small chips from salt and the like. They are small enough that they are really only noticable to me, but I'd like to fix them either way.



My question is two-fold, I was thinking about using langka with factory paint to touch these up, would that be wise? And also after touching these up, would it be ok to apply a clearbra over the touches up areas? I know it's almost impossible with a black car, but I'd like to prevent these chips in the future.

You can install a clear bra on top, but you must wetsand them flat, and polish out before you lay down the film. Otherwise, you will get air pockets which look like little silver specks. The trick is to touch up the chips, and let it shrink down overnight, then touch up with clearcoat, and let it shrink overnight, keep repeating the clearcoat until after it has shrunk down it's above the original clearcoat. Wetsand with 2000 grit, and polish out. You shouldn't be able to feel anything once it has been sanded flat, that's when you know it's safe to apply the clearmask on top. Best of luck.

It's a loosing battle IMO.





I have 18" of 3M film on the font of my car and tons of chips beyond the film....so really what's the point?
 
I have a "weekend car"....still with only 7000 miles. Also, I live in Queens, NYC....home of the worst roads in the country, at least next to Boston...lol



What I find that helps with NOT getting rock chips is to actually stay 3 or 4 car lengths behind vehicles. Steer clear of awful roads..or take it real slow...screw anyone behind you who is beeping.
 
Yeah, I was warned not to get black as everyone told me that chips and scratches were inevitable. I just didn't realize how bad it would be, lol. It does look great when it's detailed though. It's good to know that I can put the bra on after repairing the chips.

You are actually very lucky that your car IS black. Metallic colors like silver are near impossible to make perfect color touch up paint that matches. Black is the easiest color to match.. Black is Black.
 
Touch up paint can be a major improvement if done right. I have never used the pen for chips, But I used the can for 2 parts of my car. Don't expect perfection, because it will most likely not happen. Expect improvement, and you will be satisfied.
