Advice needed, cleaning nooks & crannies

Hey all,
I just got a 05 M3 that has looks of greasy black buildup in the space between the seam areas, like where the spoiler meets the trunklid and where the rear diffuser attaches to the rear bumper.
Do chemicals do best here, or elbow grease?
There is lots of bad detailer introduced damage on the paint, which I will post another time if I can get it to show up on a photo. For now, I just want to clean it real good while I make sure the mechanicals on the car are in good shape.
I may try to find a good detailer in Dallas to do paint correction on this, since I don't know how thick the paint is and how much has been buffed off, but one door handle looks like the paint has been removed from a corner :( .

it's probably cosmoline (the bain of existence for bmw owners)

APC to wash, then a chem polish like pb-pro polish

then again, looking at where you described it and the pics mebbe not cosmoline

but still suggestion is the same

apc
pb pro polish

Here are some better pics of the dark stains. I has 94k miles, so I think it is just a buildup over several years.

I'll try an apc first.

congrats on the new bimmer. i'd try a diluted 4-1 apc and a soft brush to clean out the crud you got built up there.

Update: Advice needed, cleaning nooks & crannies

OK, I got a soft brush and some Meguires car wash I had and worked on the back bumper some to see how bad it was and most came off easily with some gentle agitation. Must be something on the roads in NC where it came from that I am not familiar with in TX.

Behind the rear license plate is a mess, going to take some work to get the built up muck off there. Thanks for the help.

Pondering making a run to Dallas to have it professionally cleaned up by one of the pro's mentioned above. That way they can get it up to snuff and check the paint thickness since I have concerns.

Here are my 2 rides together in a horrible photo. Yep, the Taco has 2 giant bird poops on the hood. It has since been washed! then it rained the next day :(

Thats my favorite way to do it! Except I'm stupid and use real credit cards and destroy them. Awesome M3 BTW!!! Something else you might want to do that wouldn't be super expensive on your pocket book to hold you over till you can get proper detail
CarPro Iron X Iron Remover 500 ml. use this after wash
BLACKFIRE Poly Clay Bar Then do this. These are both Decon steps to get any grime off your paint.
BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection This is probably the easiest sealant I've ever applied and it looks amazing! As a bonus your will be breaking necks and all in your around 100$. Polishing probably is a good idea at 90k miles but if you don't want to or know how to. This will get you by! good luck!

Another handy way to get into the nooks and crannies is to save all those popsicle and ice cream bar wooden sticks, rinse them clean and use them with a cloth.
Since they are long and thin they can get into places the credit card wont go through..
I use them all the time here.
So dont throw out all those old freezer burnt popsicles, give them to the dogs, who will love you for this, and save the sticks !
