Advanced Swirl Remover Vs IP with a little note about S-100

This is the second review I'm writing and I hope they are getting better.

My method of testing first i took my green jeep that had some scratches on the hood and washed her I then took one side of the hood for the IP and the other for the ASR.

Washed and 50/50 h2o and etoh(I know that's the drinking kind but I used the rubbing)

First test was a small area by hand. I did what the bottle said the ASR was a dry appliator and it seemed like I could feel the product working. The product was a white thick liquid that you could free the abrasives in. I wiped the area with a clean MF and found a tone of hazing.

Next I took the IP and did the same except they wanted a moist appliator and a moist MF to wipe the IP off. I was sureprsed because there was Very little hasing at all if there was any by hand and also the IP didn't feel gritty.

After the hand test

I then used my rotary with a polishing pad they both seemed equal with this test even though the IP seemed to gloss up more it was for certin I could apply the LSP over either of them. One thing I did notice is that some of the heavier scratches were still there now they didn't catch a fingernail but you could still see them if you looked close.(it's a daily driver and i know it can't be perfect)

I ended up doing the whole car with FFII and then put #20 and topped it with S-100

about the S-100 I was very disapointed It seemed to darken the color and mute out the matalic flake. This is the first time I used this and was a little surprised but I know I did like the deep ness of the color and the refectivy was up there But I love the gold matalic pop that natty's and PS gave the green.

I don't have any finished pictures because the fire house installed new energy saving lights and it is darker back there then ever before if there isn't too much snow on her tomorrow i'll try to get you a pic of her before she get's all dirty

I'm kinda shocked about the S100, usually it's more reflective than Natty's and Natty's is a little deeper IMO. Maybe you needed a paint cleaner first, like AIO or p21s, just a thought. Maybe not too since you finished it off with FPII. Maybe it was the #20 that threw you, that stuff is very oily. You totaly stole my review, I was going to review IP against ASW too, lol. IP has been one of my favorite's and I got that ASR with the Autogeek thing. I'm still gonna do it but ya stole my thunder. Anyhow, I doubt either get this lady's scratches out, she backed into a bush. I said I'll try for free cause shes a friend so why not.

Patrick,

Thank you for the review. I got in on one of the Autogeek deals and bought some ASR, and it's been sitting on the shelf since I got it. After this review, I went to my garage to see what kind of abrasives I could *feel*, and oh my goodness, it's like sandpaper! You mentioned that yours is thick and white. Mine seems more grey in color, is this right? I am just stunned at how gritty it is. Does this stuff just seem more scary than it is, or is it really *that* abrasive??

Must be a prep issue..I find S100 does not darken the color and in fact will bring out metallic flakes. Maybe its a chemical issue.

SilverLexus-

Well I will give it another try but I do thing it muted the flakes tonight but maybe it will be a morining surprise Due to the new lights we have..

JDookie- Yes it's gray

No it's really that abrasive you can see the hasing it brought out by hand and it was worked in the same amount of time as the IP But when you use the rotary it seems to work almost the same Maybe a little hazing but it's not noticable..

Burlyq-

Sorry about stealing your thunder I have to clean up my wifes black bravada and i really wanted to see what each of these could do if i worked them maybe i still need to work them more..

I'm not a big fan of either Pinnacle swirl removal products. Much better polishes available for much better prices.

How would anyone rate ASR to another product in agressiveness such as SSR 2.5. Ive got a detail tommorow with pretty bad swirls and I have both and im not sure which one to turn to.

I used Einszett PP and Pinnacle ASR on a Blazer this weekend. I found them to have similar cut on this particular vehicle, but the 1Z PP left a better (clearer) finish.

If I were you, I would probably pull out the SSR 2.5.

The thing is that a few weeks ago I used SSR2.5 on his ride and its still horrible. I used a polishing pad because I didnt have a cutting pad. But since then I have recieved a lite cutting pad from Excel Detail.

His swirls are pretty bad and has some scratches so I may give ASR a try. Should I use a polishing or cutting as I wont have too much time to go back over it again if the polishing doesnt work, but then again Id hate to induce more swirls.

I have found P21s(aka s100) to leave a cloudy finish a lot of the time. I wipe it on very thinly and remove it quickly but it likes to cloud. I've tried to apply it thicker, leave it on longer etc. but to no avail. I initially liked it but now I'm not so sure.:nixweiss

I have not had that happen once in 2 years of using the product every 4-8 weeks.

Don't worry, you're not the only one. It's not so much that it clouds the finish for me, but I think it highlights imperfections a bit. It seems to remove some of the glazing effect of vanilla moose on my black car, so when you look side by side on a panel with and without s100, the side with s100 appears a little bit hazier or cloudier. Since then I've just stuck with using vanilla moose without a topper on my own car.
