Adhesive removal

We purchased a new Murano and noticed that the dealer did not remove the adhesive left over from the plastic sheets used during shipment. what is good to remove the thin adhesiv eleft over prior to waxing.
 
3M Wax & Adhesive remover is what I most often use.
I have read that WD-40 does a decent job, but I can't speak from experience.
Some sort of tar remover might work as well.

No big deal, but you could take it back to the dealer and ask them to do the delivery prep correctly. :)
Of course, they will probably scrub it with old shop rags and scratch the finish. Maybe doing it yourself isn't such a bad idea. :D
 
I think the 3M product suggestion would be a good solution, but I'll be darned if I can't seem to find it locally anymore. :confused:

Tarminator or a citrus based cleaner like Goo Gone are the products I've been using.

Now that you mention it, I don't remember seeing the 3M stuff recently either. I'll start looking for it and will hopefully find it before I need more.
If I do find a store carrying it, I'll post that information.
 
I also have used a product called Rapid Remover, it was given to me by a pro. sign man. That stuff was the best i have used. It also was a citrus base product.

I haven't heard of that product, but I am definitely a fan and believer in citrus based cleaners/degreasers.
 
This is a pretty old thread I know, but my parents happen to own the company that makes Rapid Remover (Rapid Tac Inc.). The products are very good and if anyone would like a sample pack please send them your information so they can get one out to you (Continental USA only please). I know most of you know this but a small reminder to the new guys and gals out here in the detail world. ALWAYS test whatever product you use to remove adhesive in a small inconspicuous area first (hood jam, etc...) to ensure it doesn't damage the finish. Rapid Remover works so well because it's very strong, so before you find out the hard way that your customers clear coat isn't in good shape, test a small area first. I looked up the Website and its really done very nicely.
I am glad that TAP Plastics up here in Bellevue, WA. sells your products - Im going to go over and see what they have and buy some.

I had my business Logo done in a really nice vinyl and applied to the doors of my Grand Cherokee awhile back, and I was always wondering what or how I would have to use to remove it, etc., if I had to someday... Now I know what the Pro's use, so I am set and will have the right product for the next set of Vans I might do that have to have vinyl advertising removed.

I removed the hood stripes on my mini and all the adhesive left behind I used carpro tarx with great results. Will be using this again when I debadge the deck lid as well.
