Adam's Professional Wash Pads

Hello! I have been posting on other Car Care forums for a while, and I've been reading this one off and on. I think I can learn things here that I won't else where which is cool.

I just heard about Adam's Products toady and I was looking at their Professional Wash Pads. They look like they are a very good deal. I just had a few questions about them that I couldn't answer by using the search.

1) I am used to wash mits that fit around your hand. How do these compare? and are they still easy to use even though they dont fit around your hand?

2) I've always heard that your supposed to get a REAL sheepskin wash mitt instead of a synthetic one. These wash mitts are synthetic right? So how do they work out? I'm sure that synthetic stuff can be made well... since microfiber is synthetic as far as I know and its great for paint. Are these pads superior to using a real sheepskin wash mitt? or are they equivalent to it? Any help is appreciated.

I hope I made my self clear. These pads seem to be an awesome deal and I just wanted some more information before I went out and bought them.

Thanks

Hey treestand,

They are the REAL DEAL!! I keep buying more and more because they are that good. Don't worry about not putting your hand in it......do your wash right and use 2 of them with 2 buckets (one with suds, the other with just rinse water). After a few car washes, don't hesitate to throw them in the washing machine. No need to dry, the spin cycle does it for ya!

The "technological" aspect of the mitts I heard from Adam. They are designed to pull contaminates from the surface of the car to the middle of the pad so that the "grit/crud" doesn't linger on the outside, thus promoting swirls.

Real sheepskin is going out the door!! It contains oils, and then hardens when dry. Also, the stuff it picks up when you wash doesn't go anywhere.

Here's the real kicker, pick up a couple of his Microfiber Drying towels; these things rock! They hold so much water, and you will find your drying time cut in 1/2, if not more.

In closing, the Adam's wash mitts are the best I've used thus far, and the MF Towels just don't do the justice until you've experienced it yourself.

P.S. With you being in SoCal, he is at the Orange County Swap Meet every weekend. This would be a good way to see how the rest of the fabulous line works for yourself.

I liked the deal on these.... 3 for $14. While a sheepskin mitt is $6 to 8 or something like that. These are a much better deal.

Do you put any soap with the mitts when you wash them? Such as Tide Free?

How do you usually store these pads inbetween washing? I'm looking for new ideas.

Awesome, I used to sell Tech Decks there :) (you know.. those little finger skate boards)

Thanks for the help

It didn't cross my mind that sheepskin contains oil, thanks Nick , guess I'll cross that out from my next item to get. I've been eyeing Adam's wash pads for a while, they are reasonably priced. Nick, are the pads durable? as in them not shedding ( I was thinking of chemille mitt--I bought one and it's really good but shedding problems, a big minus) .Treestand, do email Adam about your order, I'm sure he'll give you a good deal.

ps:You might find this interesting or you may not, I did email Adam a few weeks ago about DC and he did mentioned about contacting Dwayne and becoming a sponsor in DC, but I couldn't be sure .. His reply was pretty quick and that's always a plus point.

Nick,

Interesting to hear your thoughts on the Adam's mitt. As you know, I have one of his mitts. Here are my thoughts on the mitt....

First, it's synthetic.......... not my favorite choice in mitts. I've never trusted synthetic mitts for washing......... at least not if one is using them several times. Synthetic mitts tend to hold on to dirt/crap and don't rinse well between panels like a natural mitt. I've checked very closely the fibers deep down in the Adam's mitt after the mitt was washed, and rinsed............ I saw "stuff" down there that didn't rinse out. Maybe that "stuff" will stay there the next time I wash........ maybe it will come lose and get on the paint?

Synthetic fibers also tend to scratch paint easier than natural fibers as a general rule. Perhaps the fibers in the Adam's mitt are of a better quality than others I've tried? :dunno

The Adam's mitt does indeed hold a ton of water and suds.......... a good thing........... and a bad thing! I watched my son wash half of his Sport Trac with one dip of the Adam's mitt in the bucket. He was impressed........... I wasn't. All that dirt and stuff on the mitt without any rinsing!

Having said all that, I doubt that you or Adam's would use a mitt that was/would put scratches/swirls in the paint......... at least not knowingly! Therefore, I may have to give the Adam's mitt another look. After all, it took me quite a while to be convinced that quality MF towels are safe, and products like Spray & Wipe are actually a "good thing"!

Boss,
Yea it is definitely one step at a time. With much hesitation, I finally used S&W. Boy does technology ever change ... sometimes I wish I had the courage to change with it. This thread has got me to thinking about the synthetic mitts.

Interesting thread, I have been against synthetics for a while now. I used one of the Meguiars "gold spun" mitts about 6 years ago and my dark green accord looked like it had holograms on it!:flamed Maybe things haved changed...

EBP,

I agree...... I wouldn't even use the Meguiar's mitts on my wheels! I gave them away. I know MP at Meguiar's uses them all the time. He says he uses them a couple of times, and throws them out.

Who knows? :dunno

Talked to Adam tonight. He left for Carlisle Spring Car Show last Friday, and will be there until Monday. To be safe, emails will be put on hold, unless his secretary will answer the one's she can. As far as a DC sponsor, I know he has talked to Dwayne about it, and he is excited at the opportunity.

treestand--

Exactly, I do put a tiny amount of Tide in the wash....no powder cleaners though, and no drying....just let the spin cycle do the work.

circus--

I guess the only downfall of them is that there are MILLIONS of fibers in the mitt. As most, go over car lettering softer than normal, otherwise you might get some "wiskers", or fibers that tear out and remain. They are very durable, even after serveral washes in the washing machine. When the fibers get "clumpy" that's when you know to replace them, and leave the old one for wheels and stuff.

Boss--

Depending on when you got yours, and if I remember right, it has been awhile, there are even newer ones that he has that he said look "much" better under a microscope according to the manufacturer. The stuff you see when you pull the fibers apart is probably the pulling action that the synthetic provides as described in my first post. Like you, I vigorously shake the pad in a seperate rinse bucket. Having said that, doing it often is a must in good detailing!

....haha, got 3 more on order :)

I just got 3 in the mail ($14) and the Microfiber kit ($47) from Adam.
I have a detail comming up this weekend that be be the first time i will use these. I will post my findings in this thread,
