Adam's Polishes?

I always thought Adams’s was a re-badged offering no benefits over Chemical Guys Products. I also thought past discussion on the board demonstrated their almost identical similarities. Have things changed, because of what I have read in the past here and detail city has kept me away as this product seemed to shady and fly night sucker food. Or has good marketing won?

it really is a coin toss, they are definatly similar if not idential to chemical guys . . .

for ex: the revive polish by adams is identical to the chemical guys revive glaze.

scent, consistancy, product application and results . . . .

adams does have several products that are unique only to them

if you like it, buy what ever is cheaper i guess . . . . .

We all know there are not many chemical manufactures out there, but to be honest with you guys Adams won me with their excellent customer service. My source who is in NJ sends me stuff asap when I need it and when I have not been happy with a product he always went above and beyond to make me happy when there have been other people who could give a rats you know what when I did not like something.

Fdizzle- Give the mix a try I have been happy with it and helps me greatly when I am stuck working in the sun

Chemical guys does make for sale some of it's product via private label. They can upon request tailor a product to your desires. As i have hear they do for Adams and PB. That being said I have tried all 3 side by side and i think i can say while there are many similarities between the three there are key differences in each product.

now since the differences are all in the finished result, your only recourse is to get a bottle of each and try it out. See if it's results, fits your application, your needs as a detailer, and your wallet.

I watched the videos that he has up, and i worrie!

single bucket wash with the wash pad on the drive way?? you might be able to get away with the single bucket but wash mitt on the cement is just plain bad! Also have any of you noticed that in the video they never show that the swirls are gone?

Once again that video is made and edited by tv people not detailers. Phil has tried to mention this a few times on the forums i visit. He's a nice guy, who does nice work. Despite what you may think or think you know about them there is no need to get nasty over it. Anyone remember the miricale detail thread.

Phil, at adams put on a sale for their wash pads. I was intrested in trying one, but expressed concern about it not being wool. He sent me a wash pad, for free. Including a bottle of detail spray and bottle of vrt. I can honestly say all three are fine products, as good as any of the others i have used.

i agree with what most people have to say here, their most well known products are pretty good. Besides that their okay. But don't forget they aren't for hardcore detailers like us, their more for weekend car show enthusiats that want a good shine and don't really care about duration.

Several key thing shave been touched here -

I absolutly love their customer service. Someone is always happy to a) actually talk to you in real time, and b) offer advice and suggestions that dont have a used car salesman's pitch.

Even when I address some of the concerns I have had reguarding results I get on vehicles after using their products, they approach it in a posative manner and offer me other tips and ideas to try.

They make an effort to keep their customers loyal, and they know that many of their customers, like myself, use other brands for certain applications. I think it is safe to say that we all do . . . I have yet to meet someone on this forum that uses strictly one brand of product.

And though many of us may find their online videos lacking what autopians consider proper detailing etiquette - It is a generous effort on their part to give customers and windown shoppers a brief look into how their products work. . . .

Please share the differences you found. Inquiring minds would like to know.

Adam's VRT is a great, all purpose dressing.

I use it full strength on all interior components and exterior tires and trim. Put it in a spray bottle cut 2:1 with water for a great engine/well dressing.

It is very durable and the shine isn't overwhelming. The only thing that bothers me is the scent.

Yes, please expand in what you found different. I have had all 3 at one time.

I use it almost exclusively under the hood of my cars and I absolutely love it. I use it full strength applied with their detail sponges and it cleans, protects, and leaves a nice subtle shine to rubber and plastic. I personally love the smell, but I don't think I'd want it on the inside of my car.

Ive said it before, but I believe Adams is an outstanding product for non-Autopians. If my grandfather were to use his line of products I'm sure he would be impressed with them, just as I was before I found Autopia. They provide very good results on a general consumer level, but we aren't general consumers ... we are enthusiast's.

When you come into the Autopian world though, there are products that do the job quicker and better. Adams products, IMHO, are not tailored for extreme enthusiast's like us, they are designed for people who either have a garaged show car or people who don't know better. I hate to say that about their products, but most car owners don't give 2 ***** about swirl marks nor do they have any idea how to fix them. So for them, the Adams stuff works great because its user friendly and it does deliver results.

As for my opinion on individual products,

The Wash pad is my favorite pad Ive ever tried, the Detail spray works very well IMHO, the VRT is great for interiors (I don't like it on exterior due to durability), the BSG is hard to remove but does pretty well at hiding imperfections. The carpet cleaner works well on spot cleaning, but not for large areas. Their MF towels may not be the softest but Ive never had them induce any kind of marring.

The product I am the least impressed with is the Swirl Remover, it stains trim on an ungodly level and it is almost impossible to get off. The soap doesn't seem lubricious enough as I get much more wash induced marring than with NXT or Megs GC. Other than that the only product that needs improved upon is the Butter Wax in terms of durability.

Cliff notes - Adams works great for general consumers, but isn't tailored toward enthusiast's like Autopians. They have some good products and they have some crappy ones, just like every other manufacturer out there.

i like the cliff notes . . . . thats classy..

and im with you on the swiril remover . . . keep that S^%$ away from your trim.

(and thats comming from an adams user)

you dont halft to worry to much about staining if you mix it with the revive polish however . . .

Adam has swirl/revive mix that's being called (as of now) toothpaste (it actually smells like it!) it''s not for sale to the public yet, still working with it. It works really well and is nice because you can skip a step and save some time.

I do not know why, but this re-label just gets me. Just can’t justify trying a re-label when there is no apparent improvements over the others. I just can’t believe marketing has taken this in my opinion a re-label into a market share.

Makes me want to contact Chemical Guys and come out with my own Brian’s Butter Wax, wait it is like Tropi-care and Adams and oops who else has it. Hmm, I can add some more water to it to make it slightly unique.

Sorry my rant is over.
