Adams Only Please...

Superior Shine

New member
I detailed this classic ford T-bird recently. The car was left at a restoration shop and the shop manager called me to detail it.

It wasn't in bad shape but it needed some love. The owners are hard-core Adams users and only want Adams used on their ride. They had everything from Adams they wanted me to use in the trunk.

I never heard of Adams except for online.

When thay came later that afternoon to pick it up they were really happy with the car. They went on and on about the brilliant Adams shine.

Well the manager never told me that I was to use the stuff in the trunk. I detailed it with 100% Meguiars products!

I am not saying Adams is bad, just that I didn't use it that day and the owner thinks we did--MAN I THINK THATS FUNNY!!

haha lol.... you should call the owner and tell him that his "brilliant adams finish" is just your skill with paint, and has nothing to do with the products that are used.

Beautiful looking car, and great work as always

here are all the products I used--

safe d greaser 10-1

hyper wash

clay c-2000

83 dacp

swril free polish

#21

#40

APC

NXT metal polish

#38

LMAO .... ya brave to admit it online ...hope they do not read your post! LOL

What are they going to do make him redo the detail with Adams products? If it was me I would tell them what happenend just to see the stupid looks on their faces. What a joke:D

Joe, thanks for the additional evidence that it is all about the proper process, procedure, and technique...

Looks great!

I doubt it but it might be a question of ethics. Make sure you do what you told them you will do.

So how is it a question of ethics?

Sounds to me like the customer left thinking they had something they didn't? That's why I brought up an ethics issue. One doesn't have to tell a story to not speak the truth.

There's nothing to hide here. Just tell the customer that these are the products you use to get a shine like this.

No cause for concern when there is nothing to hide.

#21 over your prep really has a deep shine. How is it holding up for you, Joe?

BTW, beautiful job on that car! I wish you'd post more pictures, you really do first rate work and get your hands on some great cars. :)

He knew by his own words that the owners were hard core

Adam's users. Then went ahead and did the detail as he saw fit. That is .... Adam's was not used.

The work of the detail is exemplary. All the work done on the car looks terrific!

By omitting that you used Meguiar's instead of Adam's product I think that you have committed fraud.

As some one said, "I think it is funny." But I am not laughing.

Reread. He didn't know he was supposed to use the Adam's until after he was done-not his fault. Fraud?

He just thought it was funny becasue the client thought he'd used one thing and used another. 'Nuff said.
