Acrylic is a family of synthetic resins. A polymer is a generic term used to describe a substantially long molecule. Polymer is another word for plastic.

Acrylic IS a Polymer, so an acrylic sealant is a polymer sealant. Silicone is also a polymer, so the question you need to ask is, What type of polymer is in the sealant? I am sure most polymer sealants are acrylic, acrylic/silicone or or a combination of 2 or more polymers. You should look for long lasting sealants that offer a shine that pleases your eyes. I use Klasse, OCW and Four Star UPP.

There is a good write up here : http://www.detailguys.com/nw56.shtml

from what I've read pure acryllic's are more brittle and polymers more flexible-also acryllics tend to be more clear and shiny(sterile) while polymers can be blended for different charactarisitics of shine, wetness, and warmth
