Accounting Class.

I just started a Computer Applications in Accounting class. I guess the whole two months of class will focus on some business we "create", and it has to be something we are familiar with. :excited:

I wonder what I should choose....:idea
 
It's a mid level accounting class. 3210 is the course number. It's basically taking what I should know in accounting and incorporating it into computer applications, namely Excel.

I assume by the assignments description that we will be learning how to do this by making up a business and creating an account for the business. Then we have to record and account for any financial transaction over the "made-up" businesses first two months, since the course is only eight weeks.

Hopefully this will be a class that I learn a lot from. If a make up a detailing business, a may learn the proper way to account for everything if I ever decide to start one for real. It might give me a proper template to work off.:bigups
 
I took a business development class where we had to do something similar. I even had to call around and find shop space and get rent info to add into my budget
 
I'd highly suggest learning as much as you can about both Excel and Access during your coursework to prepare you for what you'll be doing in "the real world" when you get out of school. No matter what firm/company you work for and what ERP system they use, you'll get real familiar with both of those.

And when (or if) you start working on a certification, I can highly recommend Becker. It prepared me very well for the CPA examination. Passed all 4 parts with pretty high scores on the first go-round. Assuming you are going for a career in accounting/finance, of course.
