Accidental discovery-maybe a new no mar wash system

So yesterday I was washing my DD after work. It was totally trashed inside and out.

Filled a wash bucket, rinse bucket and wheel bucket.

Did the wheels first.

Foamed the car, let it sit, rinsed and went to work.

I noticed the rinse bucket was very low so refilled it. After washing I went to rinse and it was close to empty again. Looks like after 15 years of use, it gave up, the center mold pimple is leaking.

I did not have an extra bucket so i went and got about 10 wash mitts. I purchased a bunch of various types to try.

Dumped them all into the wash bucket to marinate and washed a panel and put it aside. Rinsed the panel and got another clean wash mitt. I liked the new system- Feels like less work shaking out the mitt and redunking it.

Anyone else try this?

I believe this is an iteration of the Garry Dean method, although that method may use MF towels instead of mitts. Quite a few members wash like this with mitts to avoid putting a once-dirty mitt into the wash bucket. I use this method, or when the car isn’t dirty and I don’t care about the paint as much, I’ll use 5 mitts and only re-use each one time on lower panels.

Still using multiple mitts to this day. Nice thing is you can use them with or without buckets.

Same here. I`m surprised I even own buckets. They are good for catching critters that get in the house though.

Why? They were cool. I hate cleaning wheels so I get them out of the way first.

Also I don’t like water sitting on paint after wash and making potential spots. I’m semi careful not to over spray too much water when doing the wheels.

I’m always looking to learn so please tell me
Why you do wheels last.
I would wash the wheels last

After doing rinseless washes for some time, the thought crossed my mind, "why not use multiple mitts instead of two bucket wash?" And so I picked up several Megs MF Mitts. I have like 10 of those, and some other various mits.

I use a ONE bucket wash for when I`m going to polish out a car, sometimes multiple mitts, other times, just one.

Oh, and what to do with the 2nd bucket when doing multi-mitt washes? Use it to hold the "discarded" mitts!! :) Or towels.

Not only do you spray the mitt, you spray the panel you’re washing while whisking with the mitt. This constant stream of soap on the panel provides constant lubrication. Yes, this is Accumulator’s method in a nut shell.

Thanks Bill D. If I could use a water hose for car washing where I live, I`d certainly try it!

Water restrictions in Southern California. That`s why I switched to mostly rinseless. Occasional bucket wash in the wee early hours at a coin-op, when it`s empty

Yeah been 2 years 1 bucket 7-8 mitts. I’ll snow foam rinse then snow foam again and use soap in the bucket and the mitts

I first saw the Accumalator style wash on a Ammo NYC video but learned more about it from Bill and Accumalator.

Not sure who did it first but with these two from AG testimonials and Larry doing it I gotta geuss its gotta work.

Got my gilmour foam gun about a month ago.

10 x Microfibre Madness Incredi Pad XL`s - I`d go broke, then get divorced!
At least you wouldn’t get robbed from the divorce, since you would be broke and I’m guessing the spouse isn’t passionate about mitts (given the initiation of the divorce).

Heh heh...I`m always surprised when somebody`s spouse isn`t fully on-board with this stuff! Accumulatorette loves having like-new vehicles so much that she buys me Detailing products ("Need anything from Griot`s or CarPro this year?" will come up as we approach the Holidays :D ). I mean...gee, it`s not like anybody actually imperils the household finances with such stuff, right?
