Accessories for your RIGID shop vac??

If sears is making a vac with a 1 7/8" hose you can bet that in the shop vac accessory area they will have all sorts of stuff, inluding the adapter to 1 1/4." It may not be there now, but if they are making such a vac, it will be there.

I wouldn't bet too much on it. I have a Craftsman Clean N Carry® 5 gal. Wet-Dry Vac, 5.0 Peak hp and wanted to use a 1 1/4" accessory kit and Sears had zip.

I ended up using some duck tape to make the 1-1/4"attachment nozzle fit in the 1-7/8" hose

That model vac is fairly new right? I just meant that having the accessories would make good financial sense for sears, seems as though they would know this. IME they have always had the largest selection of accessories for vacuums. We will see.....

That's the one I got last weekend. I emailed Sears and asked them what I can do to use accessories with my vac, especially a floor nozzle:

"Unfortunately, at this time, we do not have any 1 7/8" accessories

available for this vacuum. The Posi-Lock system is a 2 1/2" size. We will contact the manufacturer and email you if they plan on producing any additional accessories for this vacuum."

Then..

"I contacted the manufacturer. Unfortunately, they do not make a floor nozzle at this time or an adapter to use a different size nozzle. We are very sorry for the inconvenience."

At least they got back to me very quickly. The Pos-I-Lock system is just a little clip on the hose that connects to a lip on the vacuum so that the hose won't pull loose. I'm not sure his 2 1/2" size is accurate, unless that is the size of the hose, and the needed plug is 1 7/8".

The Sears branded version of the Ridgid vacuum that you all have ( Sears item #00917925000 Mfr. model #17925) shows that it uses 1 1/4" accessories. I cannot confirm that, and wouldn't be interested in returning the vacuum if it were true because mom really likes the idea of having the vacuum hanging on the wall. We'll live with the accessories that came in the box.

Guess we are SOL unless you wanna go the duct tape method:

"Yes, the vacuum is supplied by Emerson. It is a model they make for Sears but unfortunately, at this time they do not make any accessories other than what comes with the unit. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused."

I couldn't wait for Ridgid to email me back so I just called. The rep sayed that the 1-7/8 to 1-1/4 adapter has been discontinued. With that said, if anyone comes up to Mcgiver the part let me know.

Has anyone checked the actual size of the end that attaches to the vacuum. It looks to be the standard size for all the other rigid vacs. So I would assume that either the 1 1/4 hose or the 2" hose would fit right? Do I need to go out and measure mine? I'm awfully lazy today..but I will. Just a thought

Try the link now. Stupid HTML. And, yes bigchevman, the hose for the 5 hp 4 gal unit are in fact 1 7/8". I going to try and find some kind of PVC adaptor for plumbing or something.

I guess I'm not explaining myself. On my rigid wall mount the part that actually clicks onto the vacuum is a bit bigger than the actual hose diameter. It is my assumption without verifying this that they are probably all the same diameter at the conection point. Does that make more sense? If you look at the pictures of the 1 1/4" hose...the part that actually connects to the vacuum is much bigger...along the lines of the 2" range.

This thread inspired me last night to go to HD and see what they had for my newly acquired vac. I bought the detailing kit that you all have mentioned, and also the small "stinger" brand micro cleaning kit that they had. They both work perfect, you don't get as much suction as you would think with the micro detailing stuff, but it works fine for dusting out air vents ect. might I add, you can take off the large end of the 1 - 1/4 detailing hose....and attach it to the large hose that came with the vac, which will give you like 20 some odd ft. Heres some pics....
