Accessories for your RIGID shop vac??

Hey guys,

I got the RIGID shop vac, the 5hp/4gallon portable one..

It comes with an odd sized 1 7/8" hose...

I know someone mentioned looking for a way to use attachments on it in another post, just wondering if anyone figured out a way, and what you're doing...

Oh, and my dog ate the 1 7/8 to 1 1/4 attachment that they give you with it... anyone know of a cheap replacement? Home Depot didn't have one...

When I went to HD, they had a whole section there with all the different attachments you could buy for the vac. I actually bought a whole bunch of the "mini" auto detailing accessories and really like them (plus it gives me another 6 feet of hose). If the HD near you doesn't have them, try others. I'm sure one of them will.

I don't have a Ridgid vac but if I did (or a Craftsman or a Shopvac) I'd get a Cleanstream filter.

How flexible is the hose that comes with it? How long? Few of the common shop vacs I've seen come with decent hoses. If you can get the adaptors I highly recommend heavy duty, extra-flexible hoses like the Mr. Nozzle

I didn't get the adapter either (purchased Nov '04). I emailed Rigid about it and I'll let you know what they say.

Scott, go back and check that they are the 1 7/8" tools and report back. I'll send you some dough to send me the tools.

I didn't get the adapter either. I will wait patiently for your reply.

they have the mini detail kit at my hd right next to the vac. I didn't buy it because i'm not sure if I want it or not. Maybe during the summer when I'm doing a lot more details.

You're kidding me... So I got a 'rare' adapter, and the dog ate it..

I feel cheated. Where's the dog, someone needs to get beat...

My HD didn't have anything.... All of their attachments were either 2 1/4 or 1 1/4.... Nothing in between..

Actually, now that I think about it, the adapter even came with a little piece of paper explaining why they used the odd sized hose, and said they included the adapter so you could purchase accessories...

If anyone gets a reply back from HD or rigid about it, please let me know, as it appears I'm starting the hunt for a new one...

Yeah, I know about the kit but I don't want the whole kit. I just want a crevice tool and the brush. I don't need the extra hose and the hard floor stuff. Also, you could just buy the one that hangs on the wall for $10 more and it comes with all the stuff. Hmm, I might take mine back for that.

I also bought that extra kit. It came with a different hose and some other attachments. I didnt think id need it too much, but now I really like it. I only use the hose it came with the kit now and not the larger sized hose. The hose with the kit is a little longer, and much more flexible. I prefer it because I dont usually need to suck up anything really big.

Hope this helps :D

Mine (the kit with wall hanging mount) has 2 hoses. A 14', stiff as the rest and a 7' slinky style. The HD I went to didn't carry the 5HP 4gal. model without the wall setup.

I just (well, mom did) got a Craftsman vac that uses the 1 7/8 hose & attachments. We got the one that comes with a bracket to hang on the wall, and mom thinks it would be nice to have a wide floor attachment for the hose. I didn't see any 1 7/8 accessories on craftsman.com for the vac, nor did I see any in the store :(

Sears sells the same vac that Home Depot has that uses the 1 7/8 accessories.

http://www.emersontoolcompany.com/ makes the vac for Ridgid (as I was told when I asked Ridgid a question about it that they couldn't answer). Sears also sent me to the same place... Sears gave me 1-800-325-1184 for Emerson. Never did try calling them...

I had this problem and solved it by going to Lowes. They have the ShopVac line and I have found their accessories will fit my Ridgid vac.

It appears that about 90% of the vacs are made by one outfit as many of the accessories are interchangeable. I bought the 6hp 16 gallon Rigid along with the detail kit for under $60.00. The smaller hose and the extra 10' length makes it easy to vacuum the vehicles out as I just roll the vac out to the front and can reach all doors from there.:)

I seriously doubt Lowe's has anything in 17/8".

We're doomed with what's available at HD.

If you call their 1-800 number (get it from the store or website), they might ship you just the crevice tool- I never use any of the other tools in the accessery kit except it.

If sears is making a vac with a 1 7/8" hose you can bet that in the shop vac accessory area they will have all sorts of stuff, inluding the adapter to 1 1/4." It may not be there now, but if they are making such a vac, it will be there.

I have the rigid and got everything that I needed from the kit that it came with. I find the regular floor vac attachment thin enough to work as a crevice tool. The dusting brush is something that I cannot detail without.....

Yeah, it's the dusting brust that i'm most concerned with.

The kit that I got came with one tool that will work for carpets, and could double as a crevice, but without a dusting brush i'm lost...

Wow, my local HD carries the 1 7/8" dusting attachment(Ithought you were looking for other acc), at least they did the last time I was there. When I am out later today I will stop by and check. If they have it I will pick one for you.

Yeah, mine had nothing in that size... Nothing at all...

If you see one, that'd be awesome! If not, I'll start looking at lowes and sears...

Thanks!!!
