Abrasive levels using a Porter Cable

So I'm attacking our older minivan with the porter cable and I started out weak and now I'm using a cma yellow pad with some DACP and getting good results. Next, should I use some 3m SMR or can I got straight to the SEC and a white pad then wax?

TIA!:bow

I'll have to say you can go straight to SEC then wax. I think SMR won't be be neccessary besides SEC will remove the fillers that SMR will put in

I’d give skipping the SMR a try on a test area where you can easily see the hazing left by the DACP. If you get good results, great! If you don’t, then fall back to the SMR. Since I’m not a DACP user, I really don’t know how much hazing it’ll leave.

Good luck and have fun!

Blake325ic,

Work the DACP in really well untill it is almost gone. When the DACP is worken that well, you will have a great shine from the DACP alone. On a light color, you might even be able to go straight to wax.

I would then try to SEC and then apply the wax.

Great luck with your polishing!

Cheers,

As said, try SEC first and see how that looks. On a dark colour you might notice hazing or dulling (especially in the sun) since you're using a cutting pad.... then again, SEC might be able to fix that anyway. :)
