About to purchase PC7424xp.

Does it come with the "Hook and loop" back plate?? Or do i buy that separate?

The Rupes is great but $349 for the 15. If you're on a standard DA type budget why not consider the Griots Garage 6" polisher--only a few more $$$ than the PC with much more power and a lifetime warranty. For it to be most effective you'll still need a 5" backing plate which is no different than the PC.

I've never tried the 2nd, or 3rd generation GG6, and the PC7424XP side by side to compare, and not to be argumentive, but when people say the GG6 has a lot more power, I get the impression that the truth might be getting a little bit stretched?

I have the PC7424XP, I find it quite adequate, and correction with speed 5, or 6 works fine.
I would assume you can kill rotation with the GG6, the PC, the Megs, and even the Rupes, if you're not using good technique, or sitting an elephant on the machine while in use.

The upside with the PC, parts can be gotten for it online. The upside with the GG6...would anyone ever have the need to search for parts when the machine comes with a lifetime warrantee?

I think that is one good reason to buy the GG, that lifetime warrantee. The GG comes from China, the PC comes from Mexico. Sadly, what is there from good ole America anymore? :-(

The first gen GG6 was crap. The 2nd and 3rd gens are beasts compared to it. Lifetime warrantee, enough power to do just about anything within reason, and they are affordable. I want a Rupes so bad I can taste it, but just cant bring myself to pay that price and only get a 1 year warrantee. Once you use one of the newer GG6 models, a PC just feels underpowered imo.

I think what most boils down to is knowing proper technique with whatever tool. As a 15+ year rotary only user I would have said there is no way to achieve the same results with any DA style polisher. Finding proper technique and pad/polish combinations is key. I have a 7336, 7424XP, HF DA, Rupes LHR 15, 849 rotary and ADT rotary. Each has their own personality based on pad and polish. With the MF pads the game has changed dramatically for DA driven polishers. The key is learning your tool. Keep things simple pad and polish choice and work from there if you need more power. GG or the 7424xp is a good choice to start. How you use it is the most important. I took time at the risk of productivity to see what DA's were capable of and have never regretted it. Everything from basic polish to wet sand corrections. Really take note of Todd Helme and Any Kevin Brown write ups on the topic.

The best machine in incapable hands will produce average results. However a mediocre machine in capable hands can produce great results. It is truly base on how much someone is willing to truly learn how a tool works in and out.
