When I was looking into the T5i a couple years ago eBay has some decent deals on kits or package deals. Just checked out eBay to see what they had and looks like there are still some good deals to be had. I bought 2 lenses for my 7D off of Amazon and they are pretty much all I need in lenses. One is a Canon 18-55, this one works great for taking car pictures and close ups, not sure if it can be called a wide angle but does get some pretty good width on the picture on lower setting. It works great for taking pictures of cars. The other lens I have is a 75-300, I have hardly used this lens. If you are looking into the package deals I would make sure the kit at lest contains the 18-55 lens as that one will be the most used. Good luck in finding a camera, hope this helps.
i havent tried canon 18-200. ive tried the nikon one. it was nice but a little front heavy
Having owned a dozen or more dSLR cameras, I'd only recommend Nikon or Canon because there are so many lenses available. Either device will yield outstanding photos.
Good post. Canon 7d user here. Outstanding cameraIf you are going the route of trying not to spend a whole lot of money your best bet is to pick up one lens that will do the same as 2. By going the route of an 18-55 or a 28-135, etc., and having one lens versus 2 lens, a 28 and a 50 will save money. Unless you plan on taking far away shots of thing you would not need a large lens. On an 18-55 lens the lowest setting of 18mm will get you the close ups you need for detailing photos. Anything inbetween is good for taking photos of the whole vehicle.
The lenses I mentioned can be had for $100 or less and they are Canon lenses. They maybe just "ok" lenses, as one poster mentioned but they take clear excellent pictures. If you want good premium lenses you can easily spend over a grand and up for one lens. Unless your a professional photographer you are likely not going to tell the difference. You just have to ask yurself how much do you want to spend.

Alright, I guess I'll start with a 18-55mm kit, then pick up a couple more lenses later down the road.
T6i is on the way! Threw in the 50mm Canon prime lense since it was cheap and got good reviews. It'll keep me busy for a while. Hopefully.

Congrats! Can't go wrong with Canon and that little nifty 50 is a great lense for the price. Check this Canon forum, more info than you'll know what to do with :

Congrats!
A word of advise, shoot in raw and ALWAYS face the screen in before you put it away.
Oh an get a sigma 10-20, possibly the best detailing lens possible besides a 70-120 for defects.
