About to place order from Harbor Freight and CMA; looking for input...

Like this, but the 6.5" version...(I ordered over the phone, not knowing exactly what I was talking about, and that is what I got.) They are basically the same, but smaller than the 7.5" ones. I'm glad I have the smaller ones. Also, I wish the pads were flat, but instead, the surface looks like this (pad side up, velcro down): /\/\ You get the idea, just look at the picture.

I think I prefer the later because they are flat, and smaller. I still haven't experimented as much as I want. Also, I'd like to try different polishes too.

There is a thread in the "Good Deals" forum on this site about this polisher. http://www.autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30305

Here is the end of a post made by rw3829 regarding cheap tools:

"...Sorry for the long story but I just had to share it for those who feel a lower priced tool may not produce desired results...I'm a believer!

Durability and effectiveness?

Well, I almost wish there were smaller increments of speeds, but I think that is a desire that only a beginner would have. I"m perfectly fine with it though, because it will go slow enough to suit me, and hopefully anyone else. I think the increments are fairly standard, anyway. (it has 333 rpm increments, why am I complaining)

Durability, haven't had any problems yet, but I haven't really used it long and hard. I've only buffed about half my car at a time. It got dark too fast.

Effectiveness was addressed in the quote above, in a way, but to echo that, I don't think a more expensive tool do any or much better than this one.

It is not like the world of random orbital polishers, where anything but a PC is worthless. With rotarys, as long as it has the power to turn the pad, and is comfortable to use, it is the ticket.

Hope that helps, sorry I wasn't very prompt.

Feel free to ask more questions.
