alright well as title says im finally going to invest on a da. heres my question im going with the porter cable pack from autogeek.net where it comes with polishing cloths pad cleaner pad conditioner an you can pick 5 pads of your choice what pads should i get it comes with 2 free red pads for wax so i just need pads for getting out scratches, im going to be using pinnicle 360, meguiars 105 an meguiars 205 never used before but just got them in today so im excited to try when i get the porter cable. also in your oppinion should i go with a porter cable or the meguiars da? let me know as i want to place the order as soon as possiable

I would def. go with the Griot's Garage DA over both the PC and the Megs unit. Also go with 5.5 pads and backing plates instead of the 6's. If you call autogeek and ask for Meghan she can help you and might even sub out the diff. stuff for the same price as the package. For the 5 pads if you are using Lake Country I would go with three orange pads and three white pads ( I know you get 5 free but I would buy the extra one to have) If you are set on only 5 get 2 white pads. The GG Da just has so much more power as compared to the other 2. I have not used the megs unit but I have a PC and the GG blows it away.

ill have to give them a call today reason i want the pc is the discount with all the stuff so if they can sub it in for the same price ill do it but if not im gonna have to stick with the pc. only thing i dont like about any of them is the warentie isnt very good

Lifetime on the GG ;)

I just looked the machine up and didnt see anything about a lifetime warranty. As for power, all it mentioned was 850w, and that means squat to me......

My vote goes to the XP.....only because Ive used it and abused it.....

Careful with "kits" as they often contain items you may seldom use, but initially paid for....You may be better off purchasing EXACTLY what you need.....At a minimum, 2 orange, 2 white and a red....

The GG is MUCH more powerful then the XP

GG 850w 7amp

XP not sure on watts but its only a little 4.5 amp motor.

At Griot's Garage, we want you as a customer for life. Everything you purchase from us comes with a lifetime guarantee against defect. We want you to enjoy our quality products for 180 days and have fun with them! If you don't like it for any reason during this time, return it for a full refund or credit. After that, you're covered with our lifetime guarantee against defect, in which we will either repair it, replace it, or credit your purchase price if we are able to do neither.

Agree on picking out your own "package", and I'd go with the LC Hydrotech pads myself. Note that with M105 the more pads the better.

Disagree on the choice of polisher though. Noting I've never used the XP, I went GG after the comparison Mike Phillips did. And yeah, the Griot's warranty factored in a little too; my one PC has been trouble-free but my other needed a rebuild after just over a year.

alright well after going back through my thread im gonna go with the gg just gotta see if they can make a kit where i can pick my own pads like in the other pc kit hopefully they can it comes wiht the pc 5 pads of choice pad cleaner pad conditioner 2 polishing pads an 2 free red pads for 199 not bad

if you go with the Griots DA, order it direct (cut out the middle man) from them so you are in their system and there won't be any problems down the line if anything were to happen, then order your pads and everything else you need from any reputable source (Exceldetail, Detailedimage, PAC)...

Autogeek claimed they would honor the warrenty and I ordered mine from them because of the size of the order and saved on two shipping charges

when it comes to lifetime warranties (tools especially), i try to order straight from the manufacturer to be on the safe side (if there are any issues, you go straight to them). not to say AG wouldn't honor the lifetime warranty, but who knows if they will be around as long as Griots in the future. you just never know these days...

You can go strait to them no matter where you buy it.

personally for myself, it's much easier to go though them as the receipt on the back is one of the most easiest return forms i've ever seen and you don't have to call them up and ask for a return authorization number or anything. every one has there way of doing things, i personally prefer to go straight to the source when it comes to lifetime warranties, where as some like to go through distributors. there is no wrong or right way, just personal preference and everyone can do what they like...

Welll said! The GG has the best bang for buck of all DA's IMO!

well just ordered the gg becasue everyone said it was great an the liftime just made it even better. now to order some pads probley gonna get a kit off autogeek seam to be decent priced an i want to get teh pinnacle pad cleaner an conditioner with my kit which willl be nice to have for them to keep them clean an working good

Hmm.. i just bought a brand new 7424xp ,,, i like the looks of the GG .. Hmmm...

will the backing plate that works on a PC work on the GG?

EDIT: I noticed both operate at the same OPM's so what difference would the bigger AMPS make?

I do like the ERGOnomics of the GG, looks like it would be easier to use.

Also the backing plate that is included, what pads does it accept? the 5.5? or 6.5?
