? about layering UPP

My new TL (3 months old, NO swirls yet) got it's first REAL detail today. Washed, clayed, washed, VM'd w/Excel blue pad, and 1xUPP by hand. Can I put another coat of UPP on after it's washed again in about a week?

Can't use an easier combo IMO, UPP comes off almost as easy as VM!

Upp is wonderful isnt it ! Why dont you add another layer tomorrow! You can add a layer anytime you wish, as long as the surface is clean, and free of defects you can add product. VM/UPP is a good combo, I'd shoot for a layer tomorrow!

24 hours before applying another coat is the widely accepted rule. Some go a little extreme, in my opinion, and wait a week.

Yep, a 24 hour wait is fine.

When I first used UPP, there's no way I could a week before I put on another layer! I loved it so much, that I just had to go out the next day and put another layer on! :D

FWIW... when I got to my 3rd layer, there wasn't any difference in appearance in my eyes. My opinion is that 2 layers is enough with UPP.

What interests me, is that you used VM before UPP... I've only used AIO before UPP.

Does anyone else use VM+UPP? I'd have thought there'd be bonding issues with these two products? I'm willing to give it a go though, as that combo would score 10/10 for ease of use!

Haven't tried UPP over VM, but I *did* have some minor bonding issues with UPP over the pink, consumer version of 1Z MP. Nothing truly *awful*, but I did get a bit of smearing and the UPP seemed more "oily" than usual even after it cured. Sorta like BF. UPP seems to work a lot better over the "pro" version of MP, which contains less wax. There might be a limit to the UPP's tolerance for application over certain things.

Anyone ever notice how crapass Hyundai paint is? My experience is very limited, but it seems very unpredictable to me...

Funny you should mention that. I was on the road one day and I saw a new red KIA and noticed how crappy the paint job was. I was about fifteen feet away, but I still noticed the orange peel on the car.

I judge all cars on the road since I joined Autopia.:p

boosteddsm- Interesting that the UPP bonded to the VM. Thanks for posting about it, that's how we learn what does (and doesn't) work.
