A2Z safe for aluminum wheels?

I've gotta back Louisiana Jeeper on the "probably" reccomendation. I used harsh cleaners on my polished rims for years, and they really did lose their shine (I'm pretty convinced that Hot Rims, and not A2Z, however, was the culprit). However, I was able to bring it back, but not easily. If I were you, I'd try 4* gel cleaner. Its mild yet effective with a lil agitation.

Absolutely not! I made this mistake a few weeks ago. A2Z on wheels that I had polished. Left horrible white streaks that I could not clean off and would not polish out. Ended up having to sand them with 1200 grit to take off the stains. Keep A2Z away from bare metals...

is EO A2Z safe for polished aluminum wheels, without clear coat?

Put the bottle down and slowly back away! :nervous2:

A2Z is strongly alkaline...something that should never touch bare aluminium, especially polished. A2Z is great for cleaning coated wheels if allowed to sit for no more than 30 sec.

You should use, either, something acidic or an aluminium polishing paste like Billet Metal Polish.

I disagree as it does work for polished wheels, but it has to be aggitated and rinsed off quickly. The people who had problems left it on too long. I'm saying its better that you use just soap and water, but for difficult brake dust use it and then polish after. Its safe to use, but don't expect it to brighten oxidized wheels, its more to remove tough dirt.

From the back label:

"Safe finishes include: anodized, clear coated, factory painted and chrome...DO NOT USE A2Z ON NON-FACTORY PAINTED WHEELS..."

My personal experience bears out that caution. Ignore at your own risk. ;)

I use only soap and water on my custom clearcoated wheels. Even if it says it is safe on clearcoated wheels, the clearcoat could easily have been compromised by the various things that wheels go through, so the A2Z could still get underneath the clearcoat and cause problems.

I wouldn't use A2Z at all, just my opinion. Use your money for other detailing stuff, lol.

Good point. :up

I only use it as a last resort on horror wheels. It has its place in my arsenal, but at the end of the queue. :D
