A wax/sealant that sheets water?

Hi Everyone,

My black Regal GS has six coats of Z-2 Pro and two coats of Z-5 on it. The other day after a good rain I went outside and to my dismay I had water spots all over the car. When I used Blackfire a few years back I noticed that it sheeted water pretty well. I also noticed that Klasse SG sheeted water well. In other words not only did the car beed, but the beeds sheeted off the car and left no major water spotting.

I'm not saying I don't like Zaino. I love it in every other way. Am I doing something wrong? I used ZFX. Should I apply more coats? Could I top it with something? What should I do? This is an everyday driver so keeping it covered in the garage 24/7 is not an option.

Thanks,

Gabe

Well you could try Prime/ AJ or SG as they seem to sheet well. I just started using AJ the other day and liked the way it sheeted the rain we had overnight. you can try topping the Zaino with Z8. I have had good results with Z8 . if you need some Z8 I would be willing to trade some for some Z2 Pro. others should be by to pitch in as well. :dance

Could I use FK 425 as a topper spray?

I suppose it could but the Z8 is made for Z2pro. you can also add another layer of Z over the Z8 in the future without any bonding issues. guess there are not * set rules* so whatever works for you. :getdown

I thought that by nature, Zaino will (or should) bead water. From what I’ve read, sheeting is not a characteristic of the product line?

Regardless of product, if your car is exposed to the elements you WILL run the risk of developing water spots. It’s simply a matter of time. However, the difference is how well the LSP deters these spots and absorbs acidic content.

Personally I’ve never had the pleasure of using Zaino. You shouldn’t have to top with anything . . . but if you get an itch, I suppose any number of products suggested here will do.

If you do try 425, use it on your windows too. :xyxthumbs

Personally I would try FX100 and QD that with 425.
