A vote for Trade Secret

how do you apply your Black Velvet? since changing to a Pinnacle/Wolfgang Polishing Pal, i've found that i apply pastes more evenly and thinly than when i used a foam wax pad. but that might just be my case. have you tried applying with a PC?

Maybe your on to something there as I did see that item and thought it was a gimmick.

I used a foam wax pad and tried w/a PC. The wax is really hard so I have to dig the foam pad into it to get some on there. This in turn usually leaves too much on the pad as this polish needs to go on very lightly.

I might grab me one of them there Polishing Pal thingy's.

next time when trying with a PC, take the wax out of the can(carefully) and just lightly butter the pad. that should yeild a more even coat, avoiding the chunks.

with a foam wax applicator i would usually work the paste in the can until it started to break down a little. that should reduce any chunking. i wouldn't dig into the paste. i hope that helps.

i like the polishing pals...they're easier on my hand and i can apply pressure more evenly.

O4cobra - that's a great finish!

I've read about that trick but this stuff isn't in a can but glass. Those polishing Pals aren't all that expensive, worth a shot

Trade Secret is currently my favorite wax. Very high quality product. You definitely have the feeling that you are using something special when you apply it.

As others have stated, it really does a good job of bringing out flakes in the paint. It also darkens darker colors and reds, and gives the paint more depth than with a sealant.

Here are a few pics of my Velocity Red Rx-8 with TS on it:

This pic shows the Gold Flakes in the Velocity Red paint pretty well (its even better in person):

A nice benefit that I didn't really expect from TS is that is actually has pretty good longevity. I'm really loving this stuff. It doesn't attract as much dust as some other 'nubas, but it does still attract more dust than sealants such as Zaino. This is pretty much the only slight drawback I can think of..

Glad to see TS getting more attention. :bigups

That red is sick looking. Gorgeous.

Thanks! I really love the gold flakes that show up in direct sunlight.

Ironically, I will be putting on another layer of TS today! :waxing:

ugh...i just plunked down for some TS :)

I just put another coat of TS on my Velocity Red RX8. Man, I just love this stuff. What a pleasure to use! And the warmth, depth, and shine are hard to beat too!

It's nice to be able to stand back and look at the car and enjoy the (not so hard) work to get it looking it's best.

:hifive:

Rob,

Those RX pics are incredible. I have to try some Trade Secret soon. Have you tried Souveran on that sweet car?

Thanks.

No, haven't tried Souveran. When I was looking into a good quality carnauba for a Red paint job, I was hearing some good things about TS, including some comments by very respected members here indicating that TS was very comparable to Souveran but for quite a bit less money, so I decided to give it a try. I am very happy that I did! :dance

have you tried Natty's Blue on your RX, Rob? or have any intention to?

Haven't tried it, but yes, I do intend to. Unfortunately I probably will not try it until I run out of the TS (my collection of waxes/sealants is big enough as is so I don't want to keep adding to it).

I am definitely intrigued by the Natty's Blue though!

Those pics of the RX-8 just make me want to get some TS right now. I can see the flake from however far your standing away in the first pic. Amazing!

The ad for the product says that the new formula also contains polymers along with the carnuba. Could that account for the longevity? Are you using the new formula and how long is it lasting for you?

I spoke with TOL(Irene) a couple weeks ago about the "new" TS. She told me the formula change was so minor that the finish is indistinguishable from the older formula. They made this change back in '04, the same time they changed the wax's color to light ocean green and gave it a coconut scent. They also recently changed all the TOL labeling to black, so no more shiny purple label for TS.

Man I'm making a list of stuff thats gonna be a mile long.

Has anyone used this TS on a dark blue or purple. I was going to order the pinnacle but now i'm not so sure.
