A visit to Chemical Guys

I find that CG's has a alot of good products and quite a lot of exceptional one.

Hmm, i wonder if wash and gloss is the same SmartWax Carwash, it smelt fruity not citrus like though.

According to Paul the Smart Wax line is their retail customer line. The CG line is the professional line. My guess is Smart Wax products are user friendly and not as harsh and probably not harsh enough to damage your cars.

I've had some great emails back and forth with Paul. The other day, he threw in a nice t-shirt for me to wear when detailing. Might not seem like much, but to me it is.

He's got a customer for life.

Hi

Almost out of view at the bottom of your picture is greenish product, it looks like a soap? The same soap that Smartwax, use....what is the CG name for that? It smelt almost the same as Extreme wax"n"wax.

I like the design of SmartWax products but they are too expensive, esp. as CG's seem to offer such good value for money.

Thanks.

Geoff

That one is the bug washer, can't remember the name!

Just a wax mate. That's all it is

I'm not into synthetic waxes like express carnauba and pure carnauba creme wax

They would have fillers and I don't want that. Plus if I use that, I'd have to use prime acrylic afterwards for the sealant to bond too.

their sealants apparently don't last long enough. Some users here have stated that

I'm after eight to twelve months minimum durability/ Doubt that theirs would get that.

I've got some that do, mostly acrylics, ceramics and nylon laquer

Polishes are SSR 1 to 3 which I already have

Pro polish is cool though, gotta get more of that. Ran out of the PB's bottle

Actually your right guys, there's some stuff there.

Will order just for curiousity sake. Is speed wipe any good

I'm working on a double strength QD for private use that can be used on any car surface. Getting close too but CG's may have something I need to finalise it.

Their car wash is too harsh though.

How about listing your favourite CG's product from each of their listed categories on the site???

Just a wax? 50/50? Most people here are looking for a great look and 50/50 has that...As does Butter Wet Wax, XXX Hardcore wax. If you dont see anything on CG, I cant imagine you finding something on anybodys site. They have just about everything someone would need. If you are looking for 12 months of protection, maybe Nu Finish...The Once a Year Car Wax.

To each it's own about synthetic vs not waxes. However, personal preference shouldn't be turned into generalized dismissal. Have you tried it before dismissing it? I have and I am enamored with look and feel it leaves on my black Supra. It's "just a wax" only if one says that for every single wax out there.

I am curious how many waxes on the market (percentage wise) last 8-12 months without reapplication in Australian climate (assuming car is being driven)? Could you please let me know which ones are record holders in your book of durability? I would like to try them (if I can get them and afford thme) in Southern California climate.

Received my MF towel shipment from CG today and had a question about what arrived and I called Paul and he explained that he basically gave me a better towel for the same price than the ones I had ordered. Great guy to talk to! I'll def. be ordering from them soon, trying to figure out what I "need" :D

I'm gonna get speed wipe, ez glaze, butter wet wax, wet mirror finish, extreme bodywash, MF's, Revive aka Adams, Pro Polish aka PB's and Jetseal.

Their prices are too cheap to pass up and after testing a wash and gloss enhancing wash today from a New Zealand company, CG's is not so bad after all

This stuff had no balls or body to it at all. It was like dirty dishwater after washing one panel and it couldn't handle our hard water whereas CG's has the power to resist the hard water and work well.

200mph is still the best wash that I've tried as it polishes and brightens the paint and boosts sealant while it washes.

I don't like the look of it on the site, it separates and I currently like Freedom One as it's got no petroleum or wax, just citrus surfactant, emmolients and polymer sealant

I mix it with aquawax as well.

I talked to Paul on the phone today and man he is a trip. Great guy and am looking forward to doing business with him. Just ordered the XXX Hardcore paste wax, used it last weekend and it BLEW ME AWAY!

What a great wet look! I am starting to like these guys more and more.
