A uk version of the wax test!

Collinite should go at least 3 months in harsh conditions.

It is on the "watch list" and it has been three months, it hasn't "failed" yet according to the original poster.

review number 4!

Test start date 30.6.08. Reviews taken at 26.7.08, 1.9.08, 8.10.08 and today 1.11.08.

So today it was washed with Activo:

thanks to the number of sealants, I have had to go and invest in a long handled mop

Over the months I've watched these waxes moving and doing their work, and I was kinda hoping we'd be slowing down with numbers by now, the weather has become harder, so I'm finding time and effort more difficult. But, on with the show!

Drop outs? no, we are still seeing protection from those remianing, although I have seen an increase in the number of waxes which must be watched very carefully at the next review. These include:

NXT Paste wax

Victoria Concours

Nattys white

Nattys Blue

Z Royale

Z Glasur

Z Carbon

Swissvax Onyx

Swissvax Saphir.

All wxes now stand at four months durability.

some beading pics:

I have watched the Nattys and Onyx from last month when they entered my watch list and they have deteriorated slightly, but are still protected for now.

I'm confused. At the two month (9/7) report NXT was said to have failed. Here I see it is on the watch list. Did it disappear and reappear? :)

This is simply a durability test that proves what?

The things that I take into considering when rating a wax are, appearance, ease of application, cost and last of all is durability.

I appreciate the effort you put into this test . Or maybe I'm just in the mood to shake things up. :heelclick

Crazy test... The most I ever got out of NXT was about 4 weeks, maybe 6 (when I tested it against others it made it about 3 weeks). I have never gotten less then 4 months from 476s, ever.

Well, apparently you care somewhat, you list durability as one of the items you take into consideration but less so than some other qualities. If you didn't care about durability, you wouldn't have listed it at all.

And, based on the many threads I have read on this board, apparently a whole lot of people are interested in durability of their LSP as people are always talking about durability as their primary goal, talking about layering to increase durability, poly charging, mixing and matching products to increase durability, etc.

Well, 476s hasn't been kicked out yet if you read the thread and it has made it to the four month mark.

My experience has been that products on the side panels tend to bead longer than on flat horizontal panels.

I agree with you. Seems like anytime I've ever used NXT on my cars I was reapplying wax the next month. Though not a bad short term wax for the money.

OK guys, time has pasted, we have seen one of the coldest and longest periods of weather since 1986, apparently.....

Review, 12th January 2009:

The last review was start of Nov, and today was a huge task just to wash the horsebox, I used over 175 litres!

Test orignally started 30th June 2008. Reviews took place at 26th July, 1st Spet, 8th Oct and 1st Nov 2008.

After 6 and 1/2 months, the following waxes are still protecting the paintwork:

Autoglym Hi Def

Collinite 915 Marque D'Elegance

Nattys White & Blue

RaceGlaze 55

Swissvax Divine, Mystery, BoS and Concourso

Victoria Concours

Zymol Vintage and Glasur

So there you have it, my final list of what lasted over six months in very extreme conditions too.

I am sorry to say I shall not be conducting any further reviews, the time is no longer available. Due to the amopunt of failures and the appearance of the horsebox there is also now a need to get it all stripped back and restored to its previous glory.

Thank you to everyone who has followed this, and I hope it has proved as useful to you, as it has to me.

THANK YOU :bow for taking the time and effort to do this test. it can be a great indication for alot of us since you live in the land of pretty bad conditions. i have been using collinite 845 for thirty-five years but 915 M D'E i've never heard of or seen. maybe its not sold in the US. :up

Thanks a lot for running this test :)

Lots of hard work went into it.

Everyone has their preferred waxes. I was cheering for 476s.

I was surprised that it did not make it to the end.

Of course everyone will have different results when used themselves.

Another data point to consider.

More importantly, a fun read.
