A Trio of Azure Blue Mach1's

I really must love my Mach1 to have bought not just one, but two more! :D

The one in the back is a 1/18th-scale Mach1 from Auto Art. It's a 2003 model (no 40th Anniversary badge) but is quite detailed. The interior even feels like carpet. :p

The little one in the front is a 1/64th-scale Zip Zap of a 2004 Mach1 that I bought from Radio Shack.

And here you can see the size difference:

Both were sprayed and wiped with Meg's Final Detail, while the 1/18th-scale one got a couple coats of Natty's Wax.

The 1/1th-scale Mach1 I did over the weekend. Nothing really new, just my usual combo.

Process:

1. QEW - love this stuff. I can do it in my garage and not need the driveway.

2. SSR 2.5 w/cutting pad

3. SSR 1 w/polishing pad

4. VM w/finishing pad

5. EX w/caranuba w/finishing pad

6. (24 hrs. later) EX w/caranuba by hand

7. (24 hrs. later) Natty's Wax by hand

8. (24 hrs. later) Natty's Wax by hand

It's not perfect, there are still some light scratches and light hazing I have to remove, but oh well, maybe another time.

So does anyone else have model cars of their ride? And does anyone know how to take care of light scratches in a die-cast model car paint? Well, enjoy! :wavey

General Lee and SilverLexus: thanks. i'm quite happy that the blue on the two models are really similar to the real thing. :)

great job. i noticed that you were from hawaii. did u by any chance happen to get that QEW from ranney?

Sean: thanks! i may try another combo later on. maybe. :o

zesty-man: thanks. yeah, ranney gave me a sample of QEW. i love it. i can't wait until he starts selling it.

SilverLexus: you might also be an Autopian if you move to Hawaii just to detail all year round! :D

LHTLBLU: heh heh, i also got the Auto Art SuperStallion, Maisto's 2000 Cobra R, and Ertl's 1970 Grabber Blue Boss 302. :D

Mike: thanks for the compliment! :)
