Gen2, very nice work! I have a black 2004 Mercedes Benz S430 to do this weekend and I am hoping for similar results. The car has moderate swirls all over it, I definitely have my work cut out for me. I own a rotary and a PC 7424 but I am not comfortable with the rotary enough to use it on the Benz. I have used it only once and while I did get awesome results by successfully removing the heavy swirls that were all over the black 2002 Ford Taurus, I managed to burn the paint on the final panel. It was only an area about the size of a dime and I was in the process of trading in the car, but this simply wouldn't be an acceptable outcome on this car.



So my plan is to attack it with my PC and a combination of the following products:



Hi Temp Heavy cut leveler

Hi Temp Medium cut leveler

ClearKote RMG

ClearKote VM

ClearKote CMW

S100 Carnauba past wax

JW Carnauba Jett





The Hi Temp stuff works well for me as far as correction is concerned, but the product is very thick and gums up on the pad pretty quickly, not to mention it takes quite a bit of work to remove it. I love the ClearKote products, very user friendly, easy on and off, paint correction seems to be a bit on the light side though. The only product I have used for paint correction from ClearKote is VM. I have been hearing alot about the 70/30 mix of VM/RMG, would this be a good combo to tackle moderate swirls on a black Mercedes with a PC and a LC cutting pad? If not, what would you suggest? Would an IP/RMG combo be better followed up by RMG/VM combo or VM by itself?



Any help you or anyone else could give would be appreciated.
 
Hi rkf76, many members here are getting good result with the Hi Temp products and I believe the gum up could be you are using too much products. VM/RMG combo will not remove moderate swirls but IP/RMG will be a great combo to tackle moderate swirls. You can used IP/RMG with a light cutting pad follow by VM/RMG (70/30) with a polishing pad. Hope this helps ;) .

1. Wash (Meguiars NXT)

2. Clay (Mothers)

3. IP/RMG

4. VM/RMG

5. CMW

6. JW CJ



You said you use the JWCJ to "remove the residue from the CMW", can you clarify this for me? Do you remove the CMW first and then hit it with the JWCJ or do you mist the JWCJ over the CMW and then remove it? Sorry if this is a stupid question. I am asking it because I have noticed that if I spray a little bit of QD over the Hi-Temp leveler when i'm ready to remove it, it's a bit easier to remove so I just wondered if that is the same thing here. It's either that, or the JWCJ is applied and removed in a separate step.

I mist JW CJ over CMW and than remove them together, just a light mist of CJ per panel is sufficient. CMW is very easy to remove by itself, the idea of spraying CJ over CMW is to further enhance the shine and depth of the paint work. Furthermore CJ is waterbased, so it shouldn't remove the layer of CMW.

Yeah, having used VM and seeing how easy it is to remove, I was hoping the CMW would be just as easy and it sounds like it is. I hope the Benz comes out good and gives me something to post about in the "click and brag" section.
