A review on TUF SHINE.

I did as the directions said... clean until you see white suds. I scrubbed 4-5 times per tire to achieve that result and for the every day guy or gal applying this they think that it's clean by then because the instructions say so.



I am giving this one more try without using thinner on the tire. That just doesn't sound safe...



I will report back when the other shipment comes in and the weather clears but right now I just don't think its worth all this time and effort.

Alright... I agreed to try this again after speaking with Bob from TUF SHINE (which was very concerned with my previous outcome). UPS dropped off the box from Bob that contained a bottle labled "Heavy duty Tire Cleaner", new gloves, 2 new sponges, new tire brush, new tire clear coat and a bottle of TUF SHINE's detailing spray to review.



I decided I am just going to try one tire this time so I started on the front passenger side. I used the new tire cleaner 3 times until the tire had a grayish look to it. To me this is as clean as it gets...

I took the tire and wheel off the car so I could do some fender well cleaning too.



I moved the tire to a cool area (garage) and out of the heat from the sun to do 2 coats as I didn't want it as shiny as the last time. I wanted more of a matte finish this go around.



I did the first coat very lightly and it gave it a nice flat yet dark black look.



Allowed to dry for about 10 minutes then I went back to do the 2nd coat and I used a little more product and spread it around evenly.



This is the result...

And a pic of the sponge after 2 coats showing that no dirt was present on the tire at all.

So.... I am going to let it dry over night and report back tomorrow after my job interview. I hope this time it works out for me.

Well lets cross the fingers. I would have waited a day before applying the tire sealant, just to see if you get more seeping out of the tire........I'm fairly confident the issue is the old dressing seeping out EVEN after you clean them properly. Sure hope this works for you! Strange results for sure!

Alrighty.... after 100+ miles of driving today and through a huge storm I came home to inspect my tire.



I washed the tire down (I used car wash soap "Meg Gold Class" mixed with water in a spray bottle with an old but clean wash mitt, I wouldn't use dish detergent or tire cleaner as it may strip the coating over time or instantly), dried it off to find that the tire looks EXACTLY the way it did yesterday!!! Still shiny, no cracks and no browning and no oily surface as it dries to the touch!!!

TUF SHINE if done properly with a strong APC or degreaser plus squeaky clean tires will do what it says it does.



Would I buy this product again? Yes

Would I recommend it? Yes, only if your going to take the time to clean those tires!

Ease of use is tedious and we have learned that if the surface isn't clean it's not going to work.



I recommend that if your going to do this use light coats building up to the gloss that you want.



I saw that with:

1 coat... a flat deep black look

2 coats... a semi gloss matte look (which I chose)

3 coats maximum a wet look



Now the longevity test begins.

This seems like an extraordinary amount of effort for a product that must be reapplied every 2 months. I'm going to wash my wheels weekly regardless, and it doesn't take more than a minute or two to hit the tire with a brush and apply a good product.



I'm glad it worked out for you, but I would absolutely dread going through that routine every 2 months, and I wonder what the long-term effects are of using a cleaner that strong on the tire. You said it turned the rubber "grayish" - that doesn't sound good!!

You don't ever have to go to this much trouble again, like all things detailing the PREP is everything. You will wipe the tires dry after the wash and then apply the dressing......done

To my point - that's exactly what I do right now, less the 4 hour prep.

Id have to say im not a great fan of the sheen level, however i have only tried it once on this old faded tire. It was washed both with dish soap then 3 times with tuf shine tire cleaner.



I am a fan of wet tires, but i have yet to apply this to tires that are fresher and newer.

So i hold any further comments id have to say about the product.



Anybody know where to find that bazooka 4star tire shine????

It appears the sheen on your tires is highly hamperd by the number of times the tire has been scraped up, the tires looked curbed a bunch.



On fresh tires the sheen will look much better.

The tires could infact be well over 5 years, you could be right on the curb rash since an old lady used to drive this vehicle. There is however no indications of rash on the actual rims thankfully! And of course like i said i will be trying it on at least 2-3 more tires before closing my comments of Tuf-Shine
