A Red S2000 Detailed - you name the defect, it's got it :)

dang I looked at the metaboo, didnt know it was $300. Guess the makita is still going to be my next purchase.

Zymol looks really good over your prep work on that red paint. :)



I guess I am the opposite of you, I prefer the deep rich look of carnaubas to the bright reflective sealant shine. Guess that is why both waxes and sealants will always have their place in the detailing world. ;)
 
Looking good! What mods does he have as far as body and suspension? I know the wheels 18" I think.



Also do you use the PC and P0106 for the reason that it will finish finer than on a Rotary or what? Just curious as to why you use that and not the rotary to finish down?

Andrew: Wheels/tires, JDM headlights/sidemarkers, S badging, and a front lip. I think it's pretty much stock (he purchased it recently I believe).



I was losing light and tested a panel with the 106 and PC. It finished out dead perfect. Since I already had heavy hologramming problems with the rotary, I wasn't about to test it, especially without the sun to check my work. I just took my time with the PC and made it happen :).

G35stilez- Do you *really* find the Metabo *that much* more user-friendly than the Makita? Heh heh...I'm thinking of some night/day difference between the Metabo with HC and the Makita with EC (based on the thread where we discussed the two H-T compounds).
 
Hey Sean great work, some of the detailers give the others a bad name... i had a customer like that too. I'm thinking about going to rotary too, so metabo is the choice right? Do you use the VC pads from LC or the flat pads? I have the 6.5" Flat Pads from TOL.com and was wondering it would work on the rotary too if i needed to transfer pads. Have you tried EC/OP on the PC? How did you get into the wheelwells? There's no space for even my hand on some cars.
 
Funny, I was looking at the pics thinking "damn, that looks *GOOD* for zaino on red", then I saw it was a carnauba. :D



Excellent work man, that honda clear is so much fun to work on!
 
Accumulator: I only tried out the Metabo for a short time, but during that time, I was floored at it's balance and control. Plus, it is much lighter than the Makita. The way I would compare it is the Metabo is a BMW M3 and the Makita is a Ford Mustang. Fill in the blanks :).





artik: Stick with the flat pads. I used the VC in the past and liked them, but after recently trying some flats, they are the clear choice. Stick with the smaller size, too. 8.5 should be for marine only and 7.5 is still pushing it for automotive use.



I use the Power Puff (search it) for the wheel wells and YES, they were small :).

DC2R: 3M Painter's Tape. I buy mine at WalMart in the painter's section.
 
I think I'll go for a swim in that! Unbelievable work as usual sean.



I've really grown fond of the Red Honda paints. Nothing looks better to me than a beatifully detailed red car :)

I always wonder what it must be like to be the other detailer (the one he first used). I've just never had anybody dissapointed with my work...but when you're putting work out like that first guy, it's gotta happen pretty often.
 
Spectacular work Sean!!!!!



- I just had somebody bring a Red S2000 for an estimate (actually a former Autopian that had given up hope with the PC)...I buffed the door out for to see...and EC x2 didn't touch it! I had to break the wool out with EC, and then follow it with EC via foam pad and then 106FF x2 before most of the swirls were out. So even though you spent 6 hours...it can always be worse :)

Yes, this is good advice you give Sean.



Does the Metabo have a good area to grip without using the handles...cause this is why I use the Makita (it's amost like it was designed to be ridden bare back)?
 
RAG: The Metabo has a hump, almost like riding a horse with a saddle right on the head of the machine. When I used it, I found it very comfortable and easy to control.



I have two gripes with the machine, though:



1) Price. It's one of the most expensive out there, but also worth it.

2) There is no trigger, just on/off like the PC.
 
Sean, When you say two passes with the rotary what do you mean exactly? Do you mean left right up down and that is 2 passes? I purchased a Hitachi about a month ago and am still playing with it. So far so good, but I always wonder how many passes I can make and still have a good factor of safety.



Also, I was somewhat surprized to see the LC orange (light cut) finish out so perfect on usually soft Honda paint. This was due to the repaint perhaps?



Either way it looks awesome! The owner was probably :getdown when he saw it.
