A Question Concerning the OPT. System

Just got the OPT Polish. While reading the label I see where it says you can use OCW to remove polish residue (like a QD). Is this advisable? Has anyone tried this-- and to what effect?

If it works with no adverse effects , it would be a nice time saver.

Comments? Opinions?

TIA........

If you have a lot of polish on the paint your microfibre gets kind of gummed up. You will need to have a couple extra handy. I will do this if I'm in a hurry but normally I like to look at what I polished before I seal it with an LSP.

optimum products seem to leave a bit of residue on the paint... using any QD or OCW will help remove these and reveal if you've actually corrected the problems.

I usually use a QD for residue removal between steps.

My thinking with the polish was for use after OCC as the final polish...when the paint surface is where you want it but you may have some hazing , but otherwise ready for LSP.

Curious as to whether the OCW as a QD might react imperfectly with the polish residue and leave any streaking or hazing or anything other than a proper finish.

You'd be just fine. Saves you a step too. The best way is to remove the majority of the excess with a microfiber towel then go over it again with OCW. Clean-up and wax at the same time. :)

I'm going to go out on a limb here and throw some things out. When I first talked to Dave over at Optimum about the polish he mentioned this as well.

Now I have a Sealant I really like called Exite (it's manufacturered and sold locally) that I use after polishing and before any other LSP cause it "cleans" as well as seals. It will clean off the residue from either the Hi-Temp products I use or Optimum's.

Now OCW is marketed as a Wax that contains Ploymer sealants. Why it cleans up OCP/W I don't know but I was always worried that if it will clean those up, would it clean up any LSP I have on the panels already? Like if I use it between waxes after washing like so many of us do.

So the bigger question here is does OCW contain cleaners and or is it a Cleaner Wax?

No. OCW does not have any cleaners in it at all. The reason it removes OCP is beacuase OCP is leaving behind, as a residue, lubricating oils and will easily be removed with a damp MF, whether it be water, a QD or OCW.

Th ereason I use OCW to remove OCP is beacause it saves a huge amount of time when in a rush. I polish the paint, remove the bulk of the OCP and then spray the panel down with OCW and buff out, presto I'm done.

You are reading way too much into it. Any liquid product is probably going to remove any residue left after polishing, even water. OCW is a liquid, so while laying down protection, the act of wiping it across the paint will remove anything left behind by the polish.
