Generally I will only let someone else lay hands on my car when the service needed requires tools I don't have or can't reasonably purchase. For example there is no way I could afford a Hunter balancing machine to do a road force balance on my tires or any of the other tools required to mount and balanace tires, or an aligment machine.



This is why I made the analogy, sounds to me the guy knows what he wants done and possibly, how to do it himself but lacks the tools and possibly the time.... :nixweiss

sorry, but on this one, I just don't buy it. When it comes to detailing, the tools aren't THAT expensive if you know what to buy and put together a basic arsenal (not like the collections most of us have) and if he has time to stand over you and watch you detail then he's got the time to do it himself.



Mechanicals is a different story. Even if I know how to do some stuff, I just can't physically handle the job due to other health problems I have -- detailing is the extent of my abilities.
