A professional Meguiar's LSP ?

I have a client of mine who wants me to solely use Meguiar's professional line including a Meg's LSP. why ? He once went to a retail detail shop where they used stuff like that. I personally remember them using DACP. Regardless, the outfit has now have gone under.

He noticed that i use DACP but i told him i prefer SSR3 and SSR series from Poorboys, then using an LSP like zaino, wg or klasse. However, my car which has z2pro x 4 was still not to his liking cuz it's not applied with my grey pad and is not Meguiar's.. ( double sigh ) :(

There appears to be quite a choice of meg's professional products

I would like something that

-spreads well off of my grey/black pad, to prove to him

-something in the Meguiar's professional line to prove to him

-something that will leave a very wet looking finish to prove to him

is there such a product.. :(

and yes, he stands there's watching over me.. :(

thanks for any suggestions..

Watching over you? Yikes.

#26 is decent and comes in the requisite tan bottle (liquid). Personally, I'd go with either the #20 sealant or the #16 paste. Meg's has also released a #21 but I know nothing of it aside from the rumors that it is a NXT Professional equivalent.

#16 looks very wet with proper prep, but you'll have to butter-knife it onto the PC:D

There is no reason to insist on a particular line of products for everything.

Meg's Professional Paste Wax (#16) would be a good candidate...but I don't know if you can still get a hold of any.

2 layers of NXT is quite nice. #21 is supposedly good too but I haven't tried it myself. #16 is like old faithful, hard to go wrong with that.

Some people just like to stick with one brand. I know I was like that when I started. I stuck with Meg's and nothing else. They're the best brand that's easily available here and I know all their products play well with each other.

After I tried just about everything, I've started using other brands.

I guess it could be worse, he could've asked for Turtle Wax or who knows what else.

If his paint is pretty good and he still wants DACP then he really doesn't know what he wants.

Meg's and Poorboys are the only product lines I'd use exclusively, but these days there's no need for that.

Just put the products you want to use in a Meguiar's bottle and not tell anyone!:D

He is like most people of age, they had a good/bad experience with a product and want nothing else. Working in the car repair industry I get a lot of people that say they don't want a certain oil becuase it contained something that they don't like. And of course now that company no longer has that ingredient in it, they still don't trust it! So he probably used Meguiar's when he was younger and that's the only thing he trusts. Sucks because you could probably blow the Meguiar's finish out the water with some of your other products!

Here is a link to a sampler of #21!

#21 will give you everything that you/he require. I have only used it twice, but I definitely think that it will fit the bill.

He watches over you lmao...

Here is what you do, seriously,

Tell him to go to someone else.

No joke. If I had a customer like that, I'd say "If you're such an expert about detailing that you know what products should be used in what way, you need to go do the job yourself. Otherwise if for some reason you don't trust me, then go find a detailer who you trust because I don't work under these conditions."

#26 is the way to go. You can get it in either paste or liquid and it will give you that deep wet look. I wouldn't bother with #16 since it's being discontinued.

I can relate to this guy :) When I recently had my new BFG KDWs installed and a front end alignment done I watched over the Ford tech's shoulder through the whole thing :D He was very patient and didn't mind at all, or at least waited until I was gone to bad mouth me :D I very rarely take my car to anyone as I do as much of my own maintenance as possible but, I don't have a Hunter balancing machine ;) When I do take it to someone, I usually frequent places that will let me hang around while they do the work. I have been burned by just turning over the keys and trusting that the job will be done right. Craftsmanship and pride in a job well done is hard to find these days.

remember the customer is always right-possibly consider a slight price surcharge for having to get another product- #21 would probably be more glossy than #26- 26 seems a bit understated in regards to gloss

LOL ! I've considered pouring stuff in Meg's bottles too, but simply can't find 'em heh heh j/k ..

I think it will be #20 .. so I'm actually going to test DACP x 1 then #20 x 2 or 3 on my dad's car just to be sure..

So I'm hoping #20 as an LSP x 2 or 3 will be enough

I rather do a good job right there in front of him, and answer his questions right then and there instead of he dropping the car off and then bringing it back to me a gazillion times cuz "he found this here " and "found that there" kinda thing.. You be surprised how many nicks and knacks develop from the time they leave my driveway. I rather show him a possible "bad" scratch or something that will only "fade" and show him instead of him coming back to me claiming improper product used or incompetence on my part. Personally he needs a good kick in the A*** but i'm not that kind of fellow..

Deepest look: DACP or other paint prep of choice, #7, then #26.

Wettest: Paint prep then #16 or #20.

If you were saying that you have those four products and nothing else, I don't know that #7 will be of any use. #20 will "clean" off the oils that #7 provide. Your easiest option is probably #7 and then a pure wax (#16, #26).

If you were saying "of" the products, then #20 (based on my ignorance of #21).

I look at that differently though. With mechanics, most of the guys I deal with know that I want to learn about my vehicle, and keep track of it, but I lack the means and desire to do the work myself. Most of the time these guys are willing to have me watch and ask questions as they do the work since they know I'm not going to turn around and do it myself. Most detailing customers aren't this way. They figure once they know "just enough" to get by on their own, they'll do it.

#16 is the way to go for this guy! Find a can somewhere. I bought a couple of cans a couple of weeks ago online. Then tell him that it's more than 40 years old, super old-school!! Tell him you went through heck to find it, and it's been discontinued because of new regulations.

Darned regulators!! This is the last can and you got it just for him!!! He'll go crazy!!! And it will look great and you'll have enough for the rest of his life.
