A new Paul Dalton video!

i also dont see why soo many people hate on paul dalton, he is just a brilliant man who is taking advantage of his own personal experience and experimentation and marketing it to the world. granted he is probably one of the few lucky people who can make it work but hey props to him. im not saying that autopians on here cant do the same thing that he can, but he probably worked really hard to get where he is today, im sure if some autopians tried just as hard they could have probably marketed their business like he did. hey we're all probably jealous of how much he can charge, but he also does a lot more than what normal people on here do to detail a car.

Ok, that is a simplification in that $5000 is not the net profit.

My point about marketing being part of the job for a pro detailer stands, though.

Paul Dalton is so hot right now he could take a crap, wrap it in tinfoil, put a couple fish hooks on it and sell it to Queen Elizabeth as earrings for $5000.

We all can be like him...all we have to do is make a video saying we got paid a million dollars to detail a car and we could be the new buzz. I will have to make and post my video so I can have that buzz. I might have to change my prices on the website to match the video tho.

He doesn't do anything special or anything we don't know about...it is the same with actors in my eyes, they are overpaid by idiots and for some stupid reason slow-minded people really think highly of them. But then again, when you pay to see a movie (most of the time) you get your monies worth, its not the same with this joke.

There is no car in the world worth paying 10k to have it polished...weather you have the money or not.

Did anyone notice at the beginning where Paul powerwashed the hood/windshield with 1 of the wipers up! He got real close with the pressure and actually spun the blade around. :soscared:  Could have easily been a few $thousand mistake. :har:

That's even worse than the other video of him buffing with 1 hand.

PT Barnum was SOOOOO right!

he was right about what? Did he say a man should be paid for the work he does? Come on, get over your jealousy.

Would you want to do 60+ hours of work into a car and get paid for 10. Please. I have put as much time and effort into cars as paul. And i have not been paid commiserate with the work, yet because of paul, and other local high end regional detailers i am Prices that are reflecting the quality of my work and skill set.

This is not a zero sum game, it is an educational process. Paul has done an excellent job at educating his base about his work. Because of that he receives top pay. Yes he markets his work on a national if not international level. That being said it is still his local shop that pays the utility bill, the local customers and clients . Here in seattle several of the higher end detailers have committed to a level of quality, training and education that has helped us all.

~my 2 cents in a world of 20 dollar bills.

Paul just want to say keep up the good work. No matter what people say, you are one the best detailers out there, it's just that no one else is stepping up to show they can do the same like your business.

Maybe one day I can sit with you and learn from you. Because you are the only one I know from the detailing world, that does a great job. I know others from here are very good at their work. And there work shows it. But have to say there is no work like yours.

I hope one day I can get as good as you.

So keep on Shining those cars. And please keep posting your work.

I know for myself, I will love to learn more from the Best.

I have to agree with this, I just watched the videos and his buffing technique isn't great, particularly the one where he's sat cross legged. It's one thing to buff an expensive car with minimal swirls, it's another to bring back the paint work of a car thats been through the car wash 100 times. You never see him do that, and for me, transforming a piece of cr&p into something that someone can be proud of, that's the sign of a good detailer.

As for bringing out his own wax, IMO that's just the result of an over inflated ego. This is after all the same guy who stood in front of a camera and stated that the wax he was using is an enzyme in the jar and only becomes a wax after it's been warmed between his hands and applied to the car. Now that really would be a miracle!

wow Japan that's great, I hope the best for you out there.

I have friends in China, who knows maybe I can work out there one day, Lord willing.

You got to think Big.

Please send the videos. I will check them out.

Thanks

Nice video. It's actually nice to see some of his procedures for the first time, kind of nice to see him wash and polish, (aside from the pressure washer) looks very similar to the way i machine polish. I don't get to see very many people polish in my area and I know there are many techniques out there but it's relieving to see similar methods from someone who promotes his love of cars and investments wisely.

Spend much time on your knees? Lol, no work like his...there are 2 or 3 people in this thread alone who can do as good detailing work as he does. When you've got perfect paint to work with, its pretty hard to do a bad job.

Paul, Im by no means saying you are not great at what you do. But until Ive seen you work on a beaten 1993 DD Honda Accord that sees dealership details frequently, or until you work on a soccer Mom's minivan that doesn't get cleaned at all, I wont be overly impressed. You'd certainly quiet alot of detailing heads if you posted a beater you brought back to life...just a suggestion.

David Fermani, I noticed the wiper blade problem too. Potential costly mistake indeed! I should know...from accidental experience...on metallic.

PS...Paul, good video by the way. Props where due.

All I have to say is if he really does color sand all the cars that he deals with, that isn't something to be taken lightly.

I don't know many, if anybody on this forum that would seriously have the guts to fully colorsand down and polish a Veyron or Ferrari or something else of that caliber.

So you can continue to knock him all you want, I am sure he is taking all of your jabs to heart as he takes his huge paychecks to the bank.
