(a Lot Of Pictures)back From The Painter-a Little Bit Tidied Up

Looks like the front half of the car has primer. Like it's being staged to be painted black like the rest of the car.

The photoshop was a nice but the execution of the paint job is...... no so much.

How about having them fix it to one of thoes bright colors you were thinking about?

it is 22:55 now...Maybe he will sleep now.

i don't know if he can do it but what do you think about this??........
If he couldn't do it right the first time I wouldn't expect him to get any better. I'd just go with a solid color.

the problem is that he will want more money to respray the entire car....

Did you have to pay for the entire paint job upfront? Why not hold back payment till the job is done as you expected?

pampos,

I'm surprised that the shop didn't warn you. Looks like you asked for an effect

that the painter/shop has no experience with. Still, it could have been better

as blending (same color) is almost always done in a collision shop. The other

quote for $4500+ sounds about right for a small "custom" job with better materials

and a skilled custom painter behind the gun. It's no different than choosing a $100

detail job from the local carwash or $600+ from a real pro. 2 cents...

i didn't pay him in front but i was so angry with him because we almost fight the other days and i didn't want to have a real fight with him.I was ready to punch him because he is the style of guy that he see the white and he is trying to make you believe that it is black and i don't want even speak to such guys....The problems started when the car was sprayed already...I was telling him about the orange peel that he ''removed'' and he said that there is no orange peel at all and it is my idea.....i just wanted to finish and get my car,pay him just not to be the bad guy and i don't know him from now on.....But because as more i see it i hate it more i will make a try tomorrow to ask him to respray it all black as the rear part(nighthawk black pearl)...

I'll refrain from being negative about your car..Sorry your car didn't come out as planned. Finding a good body shop sure is challenging these days, especially in Cyprus I guess. I hope it works out for you.

well here goes my .02 cents. i think it was partly both your faults, the painter and you. the blend from with to black is to stark to begin with. most fades are done with the two colors in the same basic color family. orange to red, yellow to green or blue even. white to black is great on computer, but i doubt anyone could pull it off with it costing a large sum of money. i would have gone for a gray to black fade. and it has to be done by some one who has done it before or has experience with custom paint jobs, not factory color repaints. i think if you find a good/great graphics guy, he can lay some stickers where the colors blend, or try to blend. that will at least give you some connection.

not knocking you buddy, trust me i have made my share of painting mistakes. but thats the way we learn right? too bad it cost you so much money. thats a lot of detailing jobs right there. and like was mentioned earlier, you dont want to advertise with a funky uneven paint job for a detailing business. even a bright single color paint job done right would be better. i would never have a black car as a rolling advertisement. too many things to consider when people look at it. it made me feel like you were joking. i dont think i would take you serious if you pulled up in that to detail my car. like i said not knocking you, but you have to see things the way "joe public" does. not the way you or your fellow autopians do. you have to try and capture the 80% of the population thing with you advertising.

Hahah I was going thru the pictures and going wow that looks like cyprus.... I was just there last summer at Intercollege. Certainly a different culture and place... For all you that dont know its mayhem a the rotarys.. Think tokyo drift with cars like this... Just pretty funny.

The blend needs to start at the rear of the front wheel, the whole fender being white and then the gap between the fender and door is what's throwing it off.

I've blended same color cars at the middle of the door and have been able to hide work on quarter panels, the guy should give you some money back.

Man, I'm sorry to hear how disappointed you are. I know that you must have been all excited to get your car back, only to be disappointed....I've been there, not with paint/bodywork, but other car stuff. I wish you the best of luck in getting this situation taken care of. You may not be happy with the paint work, but you did a sweet job with the correction. I love the fact that you grabbed the rotary for the first time and were able to use it that well. So congrats on that.

As far as drawing attention to the car, just keep it as nice as possible and get the nicest graphics/logos for it. Remember to keep it clean, and I'm sure people will take notice of your skill. Again, best of luck with the painter, he sounds like a jerk from your earlier posts.

Sorry about the paintjob Pampos. How did you pay? If by credit card, you may be able to dispute the bill.

FWIW, I think having a super clean car is the best form of advertisement.

Why on god green earth did you accept the car back like that? I would have started laughing when he showed it to me. I would have said, "hahahahah, man you have a sense of humor. Now show me MY car."

I'm sorry, but no shop worth doing business here in the US of A would ever do a job like that. Granted there are some very talented shops here in Cali, but still, I would never accept a car back like that.

Sand that car down, and paint it red. That will grab peoples attention, and not look like a$$.

Nothing apart from a re-paint will ever make that car look good. Im sorry.

i know that i need to repaint it.I will ask tomorrow from him to respray it with a nice Nighthawk Black Pearl colour for free....

But i want to prepare it my self just to be sure that everything under the paint will be OK..

Any ideas how i should sand it and prepare it correctly ??

ouch, i usually dont really post, but man i paid a little under $400 for a SS job on my beater and turned out alot better then that. I would never have accepted my car like that. Hope all goes well, if anything sand that thing down and just primer it. It will definately look better then that. Good luck with that shop...
