As I'm sure we all do I'm always looking for a way to get the most life out of tool or product. No sense in throwing something away if it can save you time, effort, money, or serve a new and unique purpose.
If you use the typical MF applicators for any amount of time you've got a nice collection lying around. Occasionally I relegate these to "dirty work" like polishing metal or other tasks I wouldn't waste a fresh applicator on, but I've found another handy use for them.
We've all got some that look like this:
You've washed them and they don't come clean, the foam inside has started to deform slightly, its just a generally tired, worn out MF applicator not good for much.
Take a razor and carefully cut the seam on one side... cut ON the seam. You want to split the applicator open without fraying or at least reduce it as much as possible:
Pull the foam out and discard:
Now turn the applicators "skin" inside out and you have yourself a convenient little MF finger glove. Good for cleaning hard to reach areas, getting polish or wax in to tight spaces, applying conditioners, etc.
Generally the inside MF is pristine as the product and stains tend to cake on the outside and not penetrate thru to the other side. Obviously use caution if the MF is contaminated with anything undesirable, but for the most-part the dozens of times I've done this the inner MF is "like new" :clap:
