I know there seems to be loads of threads like this but ive read most an they dont seem to fully cover my questions.

I'll start with my process

Wash with Zymol shampoo

Sfx-2 on a green DAS pad

Meguiars NXT wax on a blue pad

I do however wish to start using either P21S or nattys blue (not yet decided) opinions welcome.

My next question, my paintwork came up very well after just the Sfx-2, i have however ordered all 3 Sfx-1-2-3. i doubt i wil need sfx-1 but is -2 ok to use on a regular basis and the sfx-3 between the 2 an the NXT?? I ask as the paintwork on my Focus RS is famously thin!!

All of the above used with a PC 7424.

Am i gettin this right, sorry its a little like a code at the moment!!

the car after the above process, i have only done the above once it must be said!

You're doing great. I would DEFINITELY use the SFX-3 before the NXT. It will give you a beautiful blue glassiness even over and above what you have now.

All this stuff is abrasive, but even the strongest stuff is really mild. I wouldn't use SFX-2 every week, but you can use it safely every 3-4 months or so for a number of years (not that you'd need to, but if you needed to you could). I would use SFX-3 whenever, it's really mild. I haven't tried the SFX-1, but I've used Meguiar's #83 maybe a dozen times on my Miata, another famously thin paint. I probably shouldn't have, but last I looked it was still red (almost everywhere, anyhow). #83 is pretty strong, I doubt that SFX-3 is stronger.

The SFX stuff is pretty nice. What I like best is the way it's put together as a system, with the polishes and the pads, and the very clear and concise instructions on the bottles. There's a lot to be said for knowing exactly what to do with the stuff, especially when you're standing there with polishes from 6 different manufacturers and pads of 10 different colors from 5 different sources.

cheers tom, yeah thats the main reason im stickin with the SFX stuff for now untill i feel more confident to experiment with different products. I would reccomend them to any detailing Virgin!

Cheers for the advice on the abrasivness (is that a word) of the products.

As others have said follow the SFX 2 up with the SFX 3 , using a finer polish will make the paint look even better still. Worth the extra step IMO.

On your paint colour after your NXT you wont go wrong topping with either P21s or Nattys Blue. Both look great. For me P21s is slightly easier to use, but Nattys Blue looks wetter. If your picking one I would say grab some Nattys Blue first.

wheres the best place to buy either P21S or Nattys blue in the Uk?? Im just about to recieve a large order from autopia and dont need anything else????

The UK focus' look way better than the US'!
They don't all look that good. THe Focus RS is a rare a sought after car. It has a 2.0 16v turbo engine with over 200bhp and a Quaife ATB differential. A very nice car - and they all came in the colour. Steve is a very lucky boy.

Looks really nice byw the way. I have to get a darker car as my silver Astra Coupe Turbo does not show the work put into it.

This is true it isnt a normal UK focus, it is the road going version of the Focus WRC car, only FWD but as said with the quaiffe ATB diff.

cheers rich, think i'll contact alex, dont suppose ya know how long delivery can take!!

Questions Questions Questions !!!! LOL

I agree about the SFX ease of use. I went for the SFX-2 to remove my swirls. Although it took a couple of repeat applications to remove them all it was worth the piece of mind that i wasn't using something too abrasive.

Theeved - That's the mk2 focus. Steve's is a mk1 RS.

Alex (Serious Performance) doesn't take cards as yet so you'll have to send a cheque - this does delay delivery a little, but i've found i usually get my stuff within 5 days of sending payment :)
