a hose that won't knot ?

I just replaced an old hose, had it for over 5 years. It would kink and drive me nuts. I bought a new anti-kink hose and i hate it (this is beginnig to sound like a cheap porno). I think it is a Flexogen. It's like a chunk of rebar. I might have to stretch it between two cars. It doesn't kink but it coils and twists upon itself. You have to watch as you untwist it, as i've caught it in the nads- just once though.

That's a kind offer, and I'm sure your mom wouldn't mind a "cute" car (inside joke)being washed in her driveway, but by the time I get that close I'm too anxious to get to the park to stop. I'll just give it a wash or QEW that night or the next morning.

Looks like you use your own hose in it, is that correct? I just might pick one of those up along with a "rubber" hose from Sears if it works as well as you say it does. Thanks for the tip.
 
The hose that I have come from company that make hydraulic lines mine is a TRUE 3/4 dia. have had it for 3 years. I have done everything to this hose that I can and it has never let me down and is oil resistant also. The cost was 65 + Tax for $$ IMO can't beat it. I would check with a company in your area that sell hydraulic lines for trucks and factory. good luck

Yea, that looks like the one. We have a "regular" (plastic?) 75' hose in it. Don't remember the diameter of the hose, but it was pretty cheap so I doubt it was anything too special. If you go for a thicker 100' hose it may not fit. I see a several other Hydro Industries reels on Amazon.. Don't rely on just my review for purchasing decisions, I'd hate to hear that you're unhappy with it!



The reel does not help prevent the hose from kinking - guess I'm off topic for this thread - just makes life easier. The only downside is that it has plastic fittings just like any other cheaper reel. It seemed like all the cheaper reels she tried in the past would start leaking after a year or so, and I'm guessing it was because we left the reel out too late in the fall and water froze in the plastic fittings.
 
I bought the Sears black rubber hose. It has a lifetime warrantee. At 100 ft long it hardly ever kinks, but it does have a memmory as to how you roll it up. The only downside to this hose it that it is dirty and collects dirt easily.
 
"Neverkink".......got it at Lowe's. Black hose , metal fittings , 50' , paid just over $20 for it. They had 100 footers too for around $40.



I'm very happy with it. Extends and rolls up w/out a problem...never had to untangle it.



Wish I had more detailed info for y'all , but I threw the packaging away. Next time I'm at Lowe's I'll check... if anyone's interested.

Also says it's anti-microbial to prevent bacterial build up...if that's an issue for anyone?
 
gusbubba- Thanks for the info on the NeverKink. Seems like Lowe's is working towards matching Sears in more and more areas. Wonder if you'll need that lifetime warranty; I've replaced a *lot* of the Sears "lifetime" hoses, and they usually fail at the worst possible moment.

Accumulator it must be those tuff NE Ohio winters. Didn't you get snow today. :(

My Sears rubber hose is 6 years old and outdoor 24/7/365 and still in perfect condition. :nixweiss

We have and had a mild winter. I think we got a total of a little under 4" of snow all winter :woot:





... but a whole lot of rain. Not a bad subtitute for snow when the other alternative is ice.:eek:
 
Accumulator---you're very welcome. Anything I can do , in any small way , to return the enourmous amount of help I've received from members such as yourself.



And , yes , Lowe's has a nice array of useful , quality (IMO) products...especially in the garden dept.--- e.g. hoses, quick- fit connectors , shut-off valves , chemical sprayers ,etc...I even found a very nice Fireman's nozzle for under $10.
 
I recently spotted yet another hose to add to the discussion. It's a Goodyear brand, 75" , faded red in color, about $40 at Home Depot. Looks to be very good quality. Anyone familar with these? If I were to get another hose I think it's going to be this one or the Never Kink. Can't decide at the moment.

Doesn't kink. Has good strong fittings that weren't even fazed when I've run over them with the car once or twice (ok, 6 times but who's counting?)



They do have a strong rubber smell (which I personally like but most don't) and they do leave black marks sometimes but otherwise, very happy with them. I've had 4 other brands of hoses before but I've pretty much settled with the Sears hose.
 




A couple of years ago Meguiars released a hose&nozzle that was coiled (like your cars springs) here in Australia for about $40-50 Aud. It was supposed to be kink free. They may have the same one available in the States. It was in a long thin rectngular box. I just use a regular hose & if it kinks, unkink it. Exercise is good for the soul...So I've been told.

I just picked up the 50' black rubber Goodyear, and it's pretty nice. Around $22 @ HD (or Lowe's or Menard's-can't remember which one). I actually use it to run from my faucet to my hose reel along side of the house, so I'm not sure about kinkability. I've beat the crap out of it with my string trimmer & it seems to be doing well. Connections are well made and don't leak.

I definitely wouldn't want to drink out if it though-it has a very rubbery smell-like walking into a tire shop.

BUT the single best hose I have as far as never kinking or deforming is the Sears premium vinyl, rubber hose

I HIGHLY recommend that one. The rubber hoses DO kink despite what they say and the fact that they are rubber, they abrade away on my concrete driveway and side walk. They may be good for hot water applications, but for a car where you drag it around and bend around tires, etc... you need something with vinyl in it to add to the durability and kink resistance.

:nixweiss I have never seen a Craftsman hose in 3/4"



What's also good about it is the lifetime warranty :up Just cut off the couplings, bring them in and you'll get a new one :)
 
Real world update concerning the "NeverKink" hose.....

....Love it. Am having no problems with it.

One nice thing I've noticed is that this hose doesn't seem to pick up a lot of dirt or mud. I seem to remember always having to clean my hands after handling previous hoses because of all the crap they picked up during rewind....hasn't been a problem here.

No noticeable scuffing , no knotting, no kinking...I'm happy.



These hoses ALSO come with a lifetime warranty.



They only thing I have to be upset about is my own stupidity for not getting the 100 footer.
 
I know this is an extremely late reply and the question has all ready been more than answered, but my personal favorite is the Flexogen series from APEX. These hoses are the definition of durable, heavy brass ends and 7-ply construction, can't beat that. You may be able to find them at your local hardware supply stores. If you are looking for the best hose out there it's gotta be the 3/4" version of the flexogen.
