A game changer for my detailing arsenal and beyond?

The Gloss Boss

You Mirin'?
I'm pretty excited about a purchase I'm making tomorrow and wanted to share it with you all and see possibly if anyone else on here had one of these.

Carmen-Super-Inox-steam-machine-angle.jpg

It's a Dupray Carmen Super Inox Steam Cleaner/Extraction system. It's continuous refill with both boiling water and super-heated detergent injection. Pressure is adjustable up to 105 psi and the steam is 355 deg F in the boiler.

I'm not a salesperson, just giving out some vital stats since I would imagine most of you would want to know.

I'm really hoping this will be a game changer for my detailing business by increasing my productivity and quality while decreasing operating costs in the long run. I plan to use it anywhere I can (interior, wheels, engine, around trim and body gaps and emblems, and more) plus I plan to expand The Gloss Boss, LLC into a commercial/residential steam cleaning business as well. I've already built a considerable interest just by networking with a few people about my plans!

Thanks for reading!

Congrats on the major purchase Kris. Those things are NOT cheap. Look into a general insurance policy and hit up day cares and doctors offices. I used to do some of them around the area and made some good money at it. Good luck with the machine. Just don't put me out if business with it ;)

Wow, that unit looks extremely nice. I've heard nothing but good things about the Dupray systems, I know it will be a great addition to your arsenal. Congrats!

That's an awesome looking unit... congrats! Good luck with the expansion efforts.

I can't wait to get my hands on this beast. I plan on cleaning everything in site lol!

Congrats on the purchsase. I know of one successful detailer who leased one of those hospital monitoring systems that read bacteria levels in the interior and would offer a special "sanatizing treatment" for the interior which promised to leave the interior "sterile and safe for children." He would steam the interior then print out the before and after results.

He used to charge $300 dollars, and my marketing correctly to his target demographic (soccer moms with disposibale income) he made/is making a fortune. Turn around time- Less then 2 hours. Labor costs: 20 dollars. Gross Profit: 140 per hour.

congrats on the purchase kris, you'll be able to do some serious cleaning with that thing. thay should pay for itself pretty quick.

i have one and love it. sucks up water better than i thought it would and does a great job as a stand alone carpet cleaner. i still pull out my mytee for bigger carpet jobs. biggest plus is wife has fallen in love with it for doing the kitchen and bath floors. i did have to lightly sand the end of the suction hose to attach it easily. small price to pay for a great machine. I actually loaned it to my neighbor to do his daughters ugly mini van interior. 3 minute explanation and i had to leave. no sweat he finished and it looked great. suggest you use a 20 amp circuit if possible. have fun with it , it is a great advertisement to customer that you are serious.

Hopefully this would be the only thing I would ever need for interiors. I got the BioVap degreaser for the detergent injection in case I do get something real nasty. For $5k it better clean anything! ;)

Have you gotten to play with it yet?

Not yet. There have been countless delays with my bank, but the money finally got wired yesterday and it will be shipping out this morning. They said it'll be a week of shipping time :(. I'm usually a pretty patient guy, but I'm starting to get sort of antsy/annoyed. Lol.

I will definitely be posting some sort of review, demo, pics, video, or something once I get some time with it.

Test #1 of 1 billion will be on some water stains in my tan cloth seats. Those are such a p.i.t.a to keep clean. Hopefully the steamer will make maintenance on them a little easier.

Great looking forward to the review!

Finally got this thing in today and spent a few hours playing with it. It's truly an amazing machine. I cleaned up my sister's floor mats that I used my Bissel Proheat on a couple weeks ago and it sucked up nothing but brown for several passes before the extracted liquid eventually went clear (the upholstery tool has a clear hole in it to see whats coming up). After that I cleaned some upholstered dining room chairs that were just trashed by my little nephews. They turned out looking great but needed a lot of work. Next I moved on to blasting out trim, jambs, shuts, and cleaning my wheels. The machine excelled at all of these tasks. Wheels may be a little more slow going that traditional methods though so I may stick to my normal method there. It really did a good job on getting my calipers nice and clean. Just to give you an idea Wheel Brightener wasn't even getting them as clean as the steam. Next I did a little bit of the engine. Pretty slow going to clean that out, but I expected it to be that way. It cleaned off carbon deposits on my stainless exhaust tips pretty effortlessly. I took it to my house and cleaned off some old dirty white shoes and now they look great! It also worked pretty well on venetian blinds. Using the jet nozzle to blast away stains on carpets and seating works very well. It also scares my nephews so that's always good. This thing is a one b.a.m.f.! I have a detail to do tomorrow so I will try and get some before and after pics.
