A few questions regarding Yellow..Zaino/Glanz

There have been numerous threads about Yellow...but I didn't find the answers to my questions in them...maybe I just didn't dig deep enough:nixweiss

First off...this is a 2005 Liquid Yellow MINI Cooper S Convertible.

I have washed it a few times...just did Sunday when the weather was nice...now it's heading for single digits...but the garage is heated and the MINI doesn't go out in nasty weather.

I gave it a coat of SG a couple of weeks ago. Had a bear of a time getting it off and I'm not very happy with the look or feel.

I recently took advantage of the close-outs on 1Z and among other things bought Glanz - mainly because I've read that it does good things on Yellow and I thought I'd try it. I also have Zaino in the cabinet as well as Klasse twins...but as I mentioned, the straight application of SG left me cold. I like it on my dad's silver Park Avenue, though.

Anyway..I have a clean MINI in the garage and time on my hands between now and Monday.

Should I use AIO as a base before attempting another LSP? Could I apply Zaino over the SG or would AIO application be in order? Ditto question for Glanz.

Anybody have thoughts on the Glanz/Yellow issue?

Yes strip it with AIO and try Zaino or Glantz, both are good products. I really like Glantz but ever since ZFX came out I haven't ordered Glantz anymore. If you didn't care for SG I'd go Zaino route. There aren't too many people who say anything beats Zaino on light colors. Most of the criticisms about Zaino come with some people saying there's a lack of deep gloss on Dark colors. However, this may have changed with the new formulation. Personally, I like it on both dark and light, but it is stunning on light colors like yellow, especially if it's a 2005 and has little or no imperfections. Ah you got the new vertible, those are so sweet. Ever since BMW took over the mini production those are some cool cars.

Burlyq...OK . . thanks. Ditto to Newport Viper...I read that thread, and will likely try NXT...or DUH as is was called in another thread... later on in my ownership.

I guess the only way to know which I like for appearance is to use them. I think I'll like the lighter reflective look more than the darkening "Wet Look" finish ...but that will have to be seen. Mayhaps I should tape the bonnet and do all three to see how it goes. Now's the time eh?

BTW...I did a Google search for Glans -- just to see if what I thought it was is what it is. It is. Along the way this paid hit popped up...

Peter...reminding all that there is no T in Glanz :~) ...in Denver

It is funny because your spelling is still wrong. Glanz is a German word for gloss.

Indeed, there is no T in it, but no S as well! ;)

Try to do searches with multiple words like Glanz Wax or Hartglanz (the original German name of GW). You can/should include 1Z, or einszett, too.

I work with it, and love it. It s not a typical poly sealant, because it has a warmer, almost carnauba-like glow, but shiny as well. Fairly slick and lasts quite long. 3 months easily. Spreads like mad, a goes a looong way. Some of us don't like its industrial smell, because it too 'chemically'. But forgive me please, what is it when not a chemical???

So don't worry, its working really well. I still don't know the whole truth about its ability/characteristic to clean everything lying under it, though, but its a great product, nevertheless.

Actually my spelling is correct - it's just two different words. The 1z is Glanz - as you know - and Glans is..well...Glans. I just looked Glans up because I hadn't since I was a kid and I wanted to be sure of my presumed definition. I realize that the two have nothing in common...unbless you'd want to stretch a point about a good Glanz job resulting in....mmmmmmwell.....better forget

Thanks for the review on Glanz...it does sound like it'll do good things on Yellow. This is my first time with "nice" yellow. Previously I had 2 yellow vehicles, an 80 XJ6 and a 68 F100. Neither were in pristine condition by any means.

The Yellow on the MINI shows very differently under different lighting. It can look deep and sort of Yellow Cab Yellow or light and more '67 Corvette Yellow. It'll be interesting to see how the various LSPs change that.
