A few questions re: dawn, swirl remover, bonnets . . .

Some questions. Thanks.



1. what color is the right dawn? Blue, green?



2. If I strip using dawn then Meguiars #9 swirl remover do I need to dawn again before applying Gold Class?



3. If I decide to go back to Klasse in the fall do I dawn again or is the AIO good enough to prep the surface?



4. Can one dawn too much? (the short answer)



5. Do I need to tape my trim before using #9 or 3m SMR with a PC?



6. If yes, and I stain the trim, how do I clean it? 303?



7. Where can I buy Meguiars Ultimate bonnet?



8. Is the bonnet that came with the CMA PC kit ok to remove polish like Gold Class or should I hand buff with a MF towel?

Usually its the blue but I think most of the Dawn products are so highly alkaline that any will do.



2. If I strip using dawn then Meguiars #9 swirl remover do I need to dawn again before applying Gold Class?

No, you're OK here. Just make sure to remove as much of the #9 as you can.



3. If I decide to go back to Klasse in the fall do I dawn again or is the AIO good enough to prep the surface?

Remember what Dawn does - strips the surface of wax and dirt. If you're going to apply a different product to the car then Dawn washing is fine. Don't expect the GC to last very long; 60 days max.



4. Can one dawn too much? (the short answer) Yes, but that will take years of washing.



5. Do I need to tape my trim before using #9 or 3m SMR with a PC? YES. Take my word on this one, my boy. I made a mess of my trim on my SE sedan by using a PC. Don't make the same mistake.



6. If yes, and I stain the trim, how do I clean it? 303?

303 won't do squat. I've been using EFHI full strength and a stiff bristle brush to remove polish stains and residue. And I still don't have all of it out. If you get polish in the trim consider yourself screwed.



7. Where can I buy Meguiars Ultimate bonnet?

Not sure what that is but if its a polishing pad for a PC, most any body shop supply store carries them. You can also get them from meguiars.com.



8. Is the bonnet that came with the CMA PC kit ok to remove polish like Gold Class or should I hand buff with a MF towel?

I think hand buffing is best. Use a few MF towels. Polishing bonnets tend to get gunked up with polish residue and the PC will grind the dust into the paint. With hand towels you can shake them out every few minutes.
