Thanks guys. Believe me, up until about a year ago I was one those wash with the kitchen sponge, air dry and armor all types. After getting the Audi, I decided I needed to educate myself.
Sites like Audi World and of course this one really improved my knowledge.
Anyway, re: EX. I talked to their west coast rep because the main guy was recooperating from heart surgery. Anyway, he applies this stuff for a living and basically said that I don't necessarily need to wait the full 24 hours between coats, especially if the weather is on the warmer side or the car is outside.
So what I did was apply by hand. I used 3 different applicators, one for each coat. The sponge thingamajig they provide is horrible. It doesn't allow you to get an even, thin coat on. Even a MF applicator abosrbed too much product. I found the closed cell applicator to be the best.
Anyway, apply by hand, let cure for about 30-45 minutes. Buff off. I let sit about 20 hours in between coats because we were still having warm weather in LA. After the last coat, I probably waited at least the full 24 before I topped with S100.
I didn't find the EX to be all that easy to work with at first. Again, the applicators made my life a little more crazy. If it gets on too thick, it's a pain to buff off and leaves a lot of residiual dust. But once I got the hang of it and got a thin layer down, it really got better.
I wanted to do an endurance test with just the EX but I just received S100 which I hadn't tried yet so there was no way I was going to wait. I wax or QW my car pretty often, so the durability won't be an issue for me. In any case, EX needs 2 coats. I was actually a little disappointed after the first coat because it dulled my GEPC (love this stuff). But the 2nd coat brought out the shine again and also added that depth. I didn't notice that much difference with the 3rd, so next time I'll stick with 2.
