A couple notes on Menzerna PO106FF vs. Blackfire Finishing Polish

Performance: 8 of 10

Sean,

What do you mean by performance? I'm assuming 106FF got a ding in your book because in the heat it will dust a little.

I'm on the fence with what I'll do when it's time to re-order. I think I'll keep BF/106FF around for my rides, but will probably use FPII for all others.

FPII is reasonably close in finished appearance, doesn't dust, and there is a pretty decent prices gap if you're looking at quarts.

Speaking of price.... if you order 106FF in the 16oz version (i.e. Blackfire), go to the BlackFire store front because they offer free shipping, which helps soften the $26.95 price tag.

John: FPII has less lubricating oils in it, but is a little harder to handle on the rotary.

106FF polishes easily, but dusts a bit in the heat.

Either way, they are both very good, top notch products.

I need a supplier as well--for the future. PM me the link if needed, I can't keep up with the rules regarding the posting of links.

I saw no "real" difference when I used the 85RD and 85RE5 the other week. I don't think the .5 more of cut in 85RE5 amounts to much, and the gloss rating is the same.

From my understanding, the 85RD is going to disappear altogether even overseas. I'm getting the RE5 to see if it will be a suitable replacement. If I'm not going to notice a difference, that's a good thing.:D

You better buy like 10,000mls then!!! :2thumbs:

Thanks for the info Sean :2thumbs: I'm getting nervous, I'm running low on PO85RD and need something to replace it...sounds like either one of those will do fine.

I just ordered some RE5 as well as more 85RD. I'm addicted!

I am curious why you chosed RE5 and RD? I mean, they are pretty much the same, just a little more cut in RE5. I must order a bottle of RD3 or RD3.01 from the same store as you beacuse the swedish retailer don´t import those polishes.

I am very happy at the moment beacuse my friend will start to sell Menzerna in his webshop, I will get PO85RD, PO91L and S34A at very low prices :woot2:
