A couple newbie questions

Hey guys, I consider myself pretty good at detailing but Im just getting into this higher end products and need some help deciding.

I will be getting a pc really soon as well as some new products but I have a few questions. Ive been detailing my parents cars lately but my dads is swirled like no other. I do know how to use a rotary but I really dont want to break that out. I feel its to aggresive and I hate the splatter (partly due to my error, I know that but I dont feel like messing with it, I only use that after I wetsand a body panel). However what products should I use. SSR, UPP, Klasse?

I want a long lasting sealant for these cars, 99 Green Rav4 moms car, and 97 Red Town Car, Since I don't always have a chance to do theres I want something that can last a solid month without any worries.

My car however is a Black 94 Z28.

Im also unsure of the wax, I heard Pinnacle Souvern is excellent on Black so Im thinking I may go that route but I was wondering is the paste Better than the liquid, I would assume so because of the 30 dollar diffence and the fact that most of you guys using it have the paste.

I have also looked into s100.

Also a good wax for my parents cars.

Thanks, sorry its so long.

Swirl removal - you said your dad's car has bad swirls, so get some SSR3 and SSR2.5 to use with the PC. If you don't have pads coming, look into the Propel pads. Get a yellow pad for the SSR3 and a green pad for the SSR2.5.

Souveran paste is better than the liquid, yes.

A sealant I recommend for any color is 4* UPP.

Thanks for the help. Isnt there an SSR 1 for polishing? Or is the SSR 2.5 sufficient enough?

Also whats a good, cheaper wax for my mothers car. Its a green Rav4. Not really a deep paint job, just your everyday color.

My dads car on the other hand I might use the Souveran since it is a really deep red.

And I will get some UPP I guess as my sealant for all 3 of our cars.

So the green Propel pad with SSR 2.5 would be sufficient to remove some pretty good swirls? I was gonna order the 3 pad sampler pack and throw in a couple of greens and maybe an orange too. I am just wondering if the orange I could pass on because it might be too aggressive. I just got my PC today, and want to attack my red GMC that I have take good care of, but has some pretty good swirls and such in it. Also, is the 6 inch counterweight gonna be too much for a 5" backing plate? I have searched the forums on this, and it seems to me to be personal preference. I was thinking of this combo to get started...

Propel Pad Kit (5" plate, 1 black, 2 blue)

2 Green Propel pads

1 Orange Propel pad

5" Counterweight

SSR 2.5

SSR 1

Klasse Twins

For a cheaper wax, I would go with Meg's NXT (if you want local) or Nattys paste wax or S100 (online).

A green Propel pad with SSR2.5 can remove some pretty decent swirls, yes. Get a yellow pad for the bad swirls that the green can't handle. You might want to get an orange pad too.

I have 3 orange pads and 3 yellow pads. I use the yellows much more than the orange.

Im currently using NXT on all 3 of the cars. Which is nice but durability isnt the best, and shine is nice but Im sure sub par compared to s100 or something else.

I think I have my orders all set. Thanks for the help.

With the setup you recommened wouldn't I need a polish after the SSR 2.5, or does that leave the finish swirl free. I would think I would need to use the SSR 1 or some other very fine polish.

Most often I don't need to follow SSR2.5 with a lighter polish. Even with a yellow pad I don't usually have any problems with micromarring afterward.

I used a green Propel pad on speed 5 with SSR2.5 on a black Tribute, and I didn't need to follow it with anything else other than a sealant.

On a black car or very dark color like dark green you might need to use SSR1. Most lighter colors like silver, white you could go straight from SSR2.5. As far as wax souvern paste is the best for black, but its very expensive at $70. Other lower price alternatives are Top of the line Trade Secrect or P21S/S100. They might not have the depth, but its half the cost. If your looking for a wax for for you parents car I suggest using Klasse. It may seem expensive, but it last long and you'll use only 1/2 ounce to do a car.

i just used 2.5 with the yellow, green, and orange.. after the green with 2.5 i didnt need the 1.0. i have a black 01 gm. i topped with ex. i also tried s100 over part of the vehicle, a week later and saw no difference, side by side, on the hood, what so ever.. which leads me to believe all the p21s and souveran is probably hyped too.. the only way to see the truth i guess is buy a few different lsp's and compare. i dont think i will be wasting anymore money on differnt lsp's anymore though..

Thanks for the help guys, I think I have a big order that Im going to have to place real soon.

Souveran (my car)

S100 (parents cars)

4* UPP (all cars)

SSR 1 and 2.5

PC

Bundle of MF

Maybe Klasse AIO, what is that comparable to, the 4* UPP both being sealants?

Also what is the discount of an autopian member? And at what stores?

S100 will not last that long 6 weeks max, so you'll probably get the same out of NXT that you got. AIO is a onestep product that you'll get some protection 1-2 month and it cleans oxidation. It does not have abbrassives so it won't remove swrils. You probably can replace SSR1 with AIO, but it there are holograms it won't do the trick. The 4* will last longer than AIO becuase its a pure sealant. I think if you were gonna try to save some money or reduce the products bought I would probably skip SSR1 and 4*. It sounds like you are gonna top each car with a carnuba. My process would be use the SSR2.5 for defects, follow it with AIO and it will leave a sealant then use the Souveran. Reapply every 4-6 weeks of souveran until you notice some lost of optics then you use AIO to restore it. You might want to skip S100 and use NXT over AIo on your parents car since you have it. S100 might have a better depth to it, but NXT is comparable and last as long if not longer.

Its not to much, about 350 total with all of those things. I am pretty set on the souveran. I love having a deep finish. NXT doesnt have a deep look to me at all.

The SSR 1 though you dont think Ill need? Even though my finish is black.
