A bit dissappointed with Blackfire on Black GTP

I originally had 5 layers of Souveran. Before that I had Zaino. I dawned, SMRed, clayed, BF Polish, 3 layers of BF Paint Protection. The look seems better than the plastic look of Zaino but not as much depth as Souveran.



It just looks blah...or plain. Maybe it's just me...we'll see if I get compliments or something of the sort.

Personally I think you are expecting too much. I think that car looks awesome. I don't know what more you were expecting. Layer some Souveran on top of it and see what you think then.
 
Hehe...I think it was all the advertising of how BF is the closest sealant to carnubas. My car is a daily driver so I guess BF is good for it. I did notice how there was a lot of oil in thier products.



At least I have some UV paint protection. I guess it looks very close to Souveran though.





BTW, I always think my car looks not as good as other cars on the road...LOL

well after looking at your pics, I think that I like the Souveran ones the best, then the Z then the BF... BUT!

How about posting some side by side comparison pics with souveran and blackfire pics?

I think your car looks REAL GOOD! I too used Blackfire for the first time this weekend. My car is Toreador red at first I thought there was realy no difference, that is until I pulled the car out of the garage and into the sun. I could'nt believe it was the same paint!:bounce The metal flake in the paint glistened like diamonds and looked like much larger flakes! The clear red part of the paint looked as though it was 1/2 inch thick, then I was caught totaly by suprise. After walking around the car I noticed that it had taken on a directional Chameleon type effect! Standing at one end of the car and looking at it, it looked very simular to House of Color candy Orange over a metal flake base. After seeing this I began to wonder what the hell have I done to my car?:scared I then walked to the other end and took a look. Now my car looked just like House of Color candy apple red over a metal flake base, I could'nt believe what I was seeing!:shocked It had to be funny to anyone that saw me running back and forth for a good 15 minutes looking at it and watching it change before my eyes!:D Right now I have 2 coats of the protectant on and I will be adding more layers. :D :D
 
Your car looked great on March 31 with the Zaino, it looked great with the Souveran on May 28th, and it looks great now with the Blackfire. I am thinking that durability is not a big issue with you. hehe! Will we see Klasse or Platinum in August? Seriously, I would be interested in your comments on ease of use of these products. Is there any significant difference?

:wavey LOL...I tried Klasse on a black van, didn't look too good. However, the car was old and I had to remove 3 years of oxidation from no waxing or washing the car. I guess I can't comment on Klasse. In addition, I sold my Klasse :(



Like many seem to say, BF is kinda the best of both worlds, i.e. carnubas and sealants. Zaino was pretty easy to apply and remove. It gets costly with the Z6 & 7 (or FI). I use it on my sister's car currently. It gave my car a plastic look like other members have commented on. Very reflective and clear but no depth.



Souveran is prolly the easiest to apply and remove. Like others have said it goes on like warm butter....you have to try it to really experience Souveran. Easy to remove too. However, I actually found it a tad difficult to remove when I was on my 4th and 5th layer. Wierd.



My car is a daily driver and since Souveran was so easy I applied Souveran EVERY WEEK when I washed my car...LOL.



I won't be trying Klasse and Platinum so far seems to be not as effective compared to Zaino or Klasse or even Blackfire. It just seems mediocre to the other sealants. And I didn't get my free sample! :( :eek:



Looks like I ran out of products to try for now :D
 
I disagree about the "Plasticness" of Zaino...... but I, like redcarguy, would rank them



1) Souveran

2) Zaino

3) BF



so what's next on the experiment list?? Platinum, Klasse, Turtle Wax?? (did I just say Turtle wax?? :scared )

Basically, you have come to the conclusion that I came to the other day:



Your car will not get any shinier no matter what you use!



I have tried Zaino, Mothers, Meguiars, 3M, etc.... You name it, I have tried it. (Except for Souveran.....There is no way I will spend $70 on a wax lol) The car looked the same with what ever I used (Zaino actually made it look hazy....)



By the way, I absolutely love that grille on your car. I know some Pontiacs have stock honeycomb grilles....but thats not stock....or is it??

Just put a layer on a silver Jeep today...was thinking of adding another.

jrh382, nah not stock, those are the Street Scene Speed Grills. They costed me a bundle, $130. I tried making them but they weren't as shiny. You are right though, no matter what anyone tries, it's about the same look.



By plasticiness, I mean it just reflects, it's like there is an extra coating or a seal on the car...hard to explain.





Blackmirror, hehe I just wanted something eye-catching.



wificasper, I think with carnubas you can layer as many layers as you want in any time frame, right? Theres no curing to carnubas. I applied mines weekly after I washed my car. Gotta love the easy on and off of Souveran.





I'm suprised how long the EF Black Opal stuff lasts on the tires. Good stuff! It lasts more than 2 weeks usually.

I think the BF, Z, Souveran look great. Keep up the good work.



I really like the carnuba look of the BF and of course the look of Souveran.

This picture of the GTP w/ Z does look chromed, plastiky or candy coated. Chrome looking Z. Maybe it was the lighting, angle, etc. I would like to try Z someday, just to how it looks on my car(YMMV).



I agree with that my car never looks good enough. I see other Jettas in the same color and say to myself,self, that Jetta looks better.

Being able to check out the different products on the same car is great- I like the Souveran, then BF, then Z.

The last time I check automotive paint is a form of plastic. I really do not understand the above statement. Since both our cars are GM products I am assuming they have the same black paint on them. My Z28 is pure black (non-metallic) and I have depth like I never was able to achieve before with any carnuaba. When I go to car shows, the cars with the best paint jobs appear as though they have this "plastic-like coating" and some almost look like candy. That was the look I have been seeking since I was kid building model cars and planes.

Thanks Zaino for making that dream finish possible on a stock paint job. :bow

blkZ28Conv, I just wish Zaino had more depth to it like Souveran, but sealants aren't carnubas :( I saw a black Windstar the other day on the highway and it was sooooo reflective, like it was eye bliding. I prefer a shimmer wet-look, thats all. And yes, Zaino is very easy to maintain/clean.



BTW, do you guys with black cars keep stripping Zaino when you have heavy swirls and scratches? Sometimes just putting on some Z5 isn't enough for me.



I guess I'll stick to Zaino during the winter and Souveran during the warmer seasons unless BF lasts but not from what I have read so far.





BTW, I still use Z on my sister's beige/gold Camry, looks great on the color.
