A bit disappointed with NXT Speed Detailer

I was really excited to try this product as it was one major missing link in the NXT line, but I have not had the best results using it. First of all, the spray nozzle is terrible, and does not allow a small amount to be sprayed out at a time. The main problem I have with it is that it comes out very thick and smears terribly. I am using large MF towels to apply it, but I just can't get it to work for me. A shame, because I was looking forward to using it. Now I just use Sonus or WG over NXT with great results.

I find that spraying less QD works better. I hated it too at first. It streaked if applied too heavy and was hard to buff off. I compared it to Sonus Acr Spritz and EO and Speed Detailer is better looking on NXT, IMHO.

maybe your holding the bottle too close to the car:nixweiss -i've not had the smearing even in cold weather-i'm sure you shook it first

You aren't the first person to express displeasure with this product.

I was going to try some, but it sounds like I need to wait for a few more reviews.

It may work better on lighter colored cars, but on my midnight blue metallic GTO it just doesn't have the same effect as Sonus Acrylic Spritz. I really like this QD over NXT.

i have used both the megs nxt speed & quik detailer and they both work the same for me (i probably won't be buying neither anymore). i just bought some (recommended by you fellow autopians) eagle one wet wipe & shine spray, we'll see how it compares...

I currently use Speed detailer and love it! The slickness and shine is great. After using Speed Detailer it literally looks like I just applied a fresh coat of NXT. I havent had any streaking. In fact I find that it streaks less than my old beloved EO Wipe and Shine. I loved the EO, but once I tried NXT Speed, my EO slowly moves to the back of the shelf. Give NXT another try for those who said it streaked. Make sure the MF towel you do the final wipe with is completely dry. The only time I get streaking is if the final wipe MF towel is even slightly damp.

I use an ultra MF wash mitt to use QD's including my own. Once it gets a little too damp the QD won't dissappear as quick

A dry pakshak ultra plush white MF buff towel is sometimes used as to do the final wipe

Will be getting Speed detailer in 1 gallon size soon and see how it compares to Menz acryl shield, four star UGE, wolfgang, my own creme afterwash lotion QD, clearkote quick shine, meguiars 34 and old school 66

Love QD's, can't live without em

I am not real pleased with the product either. I have used an entire bottle and cannot make it work for me. I do not have a problem with streaking, but as you said the sprayer is terrible and the slickness is marginal at best.

If you have a costco near you, they have a GC QD that is VERY GOOD IMO. It comes with the new formula GC, which is no slouch either. I have asked and they will not be mass producing this QD, it is exclusive the costco. :(

I bought some(8 bucks no harm no foul) just in case I try the nxt paste wax and want to try to spit shine it. But now I'm not sure if the speed detailer would be best for this or the booster wax :nixweiss

I just came home with a bottle of NXT Speed Detailer when I read this post. I was expecting a bad experience, but much to my surprise I was delighted. The sprayer worked perfectly and is meatered correctly for a QD spray to provide a fine mist. The product wiped away dust and bugs easily and did not smear or haze the the finish. I waxed the car this morning before taking off on my trip and now it looks as fresh as when I started out. I like it and plan to try it side-by-side with my other QD sprays.

P.S. It took less than 2 oz to QD my whole Cayenne. It goes a long way.

David, my experience with the NXT Speed Detailer mirrors yours. It takes very little product to accomplish what you're trying to do. The products behaves a *lot* like undiluted Z6 and the Menzerna Acrylic Spray.

I really like the sprayer. It is the same sprayer that they use on the consumer version of their Quick Detailer. It puts down a very fine mist. I just washed and QD'd my 4Runner. The NXT SD left the paint very slick with a nice shine.

For the money its very good....:up

Long time lurker, first time poster... Does anyone else spray the NXT QD onto a MF cloth, and then apply to the panel? I do this to avoid overspray, and then wipe off with a dry MF. Any issues with that?
