Detailing Hobbyist
This past Saturday My son and I decided to detail my Jeep. My son is getting ready to head off to college and I have given him my Jeep. I bought the Jeep new in 1996. It currently has 160k miles but runs very strong and has no mechanical problems. Regularly maintained.

The paint is in very good condition, considering that it sits outside every day. My process was the following:

Paint prep: Washed with Exclusiv Glanz shampoo and clayed with Claymagic.

Polish: 1Z Waxpolish Soft by PC with a white pad. Went over the Jeep and let it haze. Buffed off with a MF with no problems. No dusting and little effort :xyxthumbs .

Sealant: 1Z Glanz wax using Poorboys PVA sponge. The sponge makes it really easy to apply the sealant very thin. I let it sit for about thirty minutes and buffed off with a MF. Very little effort and a great shine :xyxthumbs .

Tires were cleaned with Orange Blast and dressed with Poorboys Bold and Bright. This was the first time I used B&B. I am really impressed with the application and shine :up . I can't comment on durability at this time. Wheels were waxed with Eagle One Wax as you Dry. Wheels were previously polished and sealed with the Klasse twins.

Bumpers were dressed with Poorboys Trim Restorer. The bumpers are starting to fade but the Trim Restorer brought them back to life.

Glass was polished with 1Z Glaspolish. This is great stuff. It really leaves the glass smooth with no streaking.

Interior was dressed with 1Z Cockpit Premium. Great smell and very matte finish.

Here are some of the pics. Enjoy!

Absolutely amazing!

That paint looks brand new...Hell, the whole car does!

How long have you gotten Glanz to last for?

I forgot to mention that my rear lights were very dull looking so I polished them with Megs PlastX. They came out very clear and shiny. Great stuff.

That Jeep looks awesome! :bow

Great work on the detail. I especially can't believe that its got 160K miles on it. My cousin's 96 Explorer with 60,000 miles on it just got taken in for a $3,000 new trans. Good luck with it man, and keep up the good work.

I have been using Glanz for about one year now. It usually lasts about three to four months before I start over.

Great job keeping that 96' looking like new!!!My wife had the same year and color and if she had kept it I doubt it would have looked as good as yours.:bow :xyxthumbs

That is one METICULOUSLY maintained Jeep if ever I have seen one!!! :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs I've seen cars with a fraction of that mileage look ten times as bad. Beautiful detailing indeed!!

Is your son "hooked" on detailing as well??

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. Unfortunately, my son does not share the same passion for detailing that I enjoy. His hobby is computers and gaming. Nevertheless, I hope that he learns to like detailing with car ownership.

Zane, I wanted him to go to Tech so that he could stay with my mother but instead he chose TSTC in Waco for Computer Networking. Nevertheless, I'm happy that he is going to school.
