96 Black Corvette - Zaino or S100???

I'm about to do an exterior job on my boss' 96 Corvette. It's black and has never been done. Some minor dings and a good portion of swirl marks/scratches from road racing. I want to make this thing look GREAT. Mainly because he let's me drive it and I want to look good but also to impress him.

I've used Einszett products combined with S100 and love the results but it's nothing that makes me say WOW!!! (Like Scotts work). If you were in my situation (he's buying the products that I choose) what would you choose?

Thx

I would go with the S100. You should use a product that can be applied within a reasonable time period.

I would cleanse paint after removing swirls and surface marring with either Vanilla Moose or P21S GEPC ( S100 SEPC). I would top this with Poorboy's EX for extended protection and for that WOW factor top with P21S or even better with Pinnacle Souveran.

Here is VM and GEPC prepped 95 Z28 with EX topped with P21S and Souveran.

You have a number of options as far as correct surface prep. goes, but as a final layer I find Pinnacle Souveran tough to beat. :up

Your Z28 looks fantastic as always! Since you say that you prepped with VM and GEPC, I’m assuming that this means that you stripped your multi-layered Zaino - is that correct?

I’ve been playing with EX on a spot basis for awhile now and am very impressed! Presently my roadster has many layers of Zaino topped with a few layers of PUPP topped with both P21S and Souverän. Don’t see how it could get much better, but I’m gonna keep trying!

Yes, I stripped :o everything off to start with a clean slate. I SMR'd with PC to remove majority of surface marring and did the multi- cleansing regimen ( VM/ IHG/GEPC) and applied 3 layers of EX. Topped with 2 layers of Souveran and one layer of P21S.

I recently did an experiment with mixing P21S and Souveran and I like the results over EX but I still find it hard to beat Souveran over EX alone.

The regimen you are using sounds great and probably will be hard to beat in terms of appearance but maybe a slight edge to EX over PUPP in terms of ease of application :nixweiss .

That is what is so great about this hobby... reaching for the ultimate appearance while trying to stay up with the newest and baddest car care products, techniques and combinations.:xyxthumbs

I apologize for hijacking your thread. I’m hanging my head in shame, and I promise that it won’t happen again.

For great results on seven year old black paint (without excessive work) I’d recommend doing as much surface prep (clay, polish and glaze) as you feel comfortable doing, then top with Souverän. Souverän is a little more oily than P21S/S100 and IMO does a better job of hiding surface marring. Good luck on your boss’s ‘vette!
