Here's a few teaser shots of a test panel I did on the car:

What I found to work best on this unbelievably soft paint was Megs 205 on a white ccs pad, followed up by some Menz 85rd on a blue pad. Thanks for looking. Should have many more pictures up of the rest of the detail throughout the week and a decent write-up. :hb

Passenger Rear Quarter Panel:

This panel is in some of the worst shape I've seen in a long time. The car had been keyed while owned by the previous owner, and I did my best to conceal the key marks as much as possible. A lot of wetsanding and buffing seemed to do the trick.

PROCESS:

Polished entire panel with Megs Yellow Solo Pad with some M205 on it to see what needed to be wetsanded and what did not.

Wet sanded deep scratches/key marks with 1500 Megs Unigrit paper, followed up with some 3000.

Hit the sand marks with a Megs Burgandy Wool pad with some M105 and the Kevin Brown method.

After this, I followed up with some M205 on a white CCS pad, and then some Menz 85rd on a blue CCS pad.

Here are the results:

Wing Process:

3 Passes with M105 on Megs Yellow Solo Pad

1 Pass with M205 on White CCS Pad

1 Pass with 85rd on blue CCS pad

Here's some pretty sweet 50/50 shots:

Driver's Side Rear Quarter Panel Process:

First, I did the entire panel with a yellow megs diamond-cut pad with some M105 to see how deep the scratches really were. I noticed the scratches were WAY too deep for sanding (most of them anyway). I used touch-up paint to fill in the deepest scratches, let it sit for 4 hours, and then hit it with some Megs 1500 grit, followed up with some Megs 3000 grit. After that, I removed the sanding marks with some Menz Powergloss and the diamondcut Megs pad. After that, I followed it up with about 4-5 good solid passes with that same pad with M105. After that was M205 on a white pad, and then 85rd on a blue pad :)

Driver's Side Door:

This was a even worse to work on than the driver's side rear quarter unfortunately... It required over 5 passes with various pads and polishes, and 2+ coats of touch-up paint in various places. I counted over 30 scratches that I wetsanded/got out. Unbelievable how little care people can take of such a nice car...

Appreciate any comments, and thanks for looking.

LOL! well, I was going to do the entire panel with trizact discs and a DA but I was out of them and had to get the car done, so I just did it by hand. :)

lol not meaning it that way. You can see how you did them by hand. Small piece at the top of your fingers, ran back and forth in an arc motion. lol

Great work. Man, those Supras were FAST. I had a '93 RX-7, and the Supra was the "competition". I preferred the lighter RX-7, but the Supra was a bit faster despite the extra weight. The RX-7 was the better handling car though, imo.
