93 RX7 - Fixin my run in with a Ford Escape

Came out of the grocery store today to find a lady writing a note, she somehow hit my car while backing out of the spot next to it with her Ford Escape. :( I told her it was fine and that I'd take care of it myself even though it looked nasty. Thankfully it was mostly rubber and paint transfer! (Yay for Escape bumpers lol)

I clayed it, that took a bit off, and used Goo Gone for some of the remainder of the rubber, followed that with M105 on a yellow edge pad via rotary to clean up the major scuffing, and finished up with Optimum Polish on a white CCS pad to remove the holograms from M105. Topped up everything with S100.

Heres the before shot

After paint and rubber removal, before compounding

And our finished product; still one or two spots that got down through most of the paint, but its ok since I'm planning on buying a newer bumper in December anyways.

WOW! Amazing turn-around.... and the fact that you told the lady not to worry about it! You are very nice person. Hopefully karma gets you back one day.

Unbelieveable change from the first pic to the last. Nice work. And very cool that you told the lady not to worry about it. I think a lot of people would have jumped out of the car asking for a neck brace and an attorney.

I'm surprised the lady was writing a note, usually the person hit's and run's. Nice job on the bumber and :2thumbs: for telling her not to worry about it.

+1 real cool. Karma takes care of it's self and this is clearly a check in your column :bigups

Wow, you are lucky it did not dent the bumper! You must be the only person to get a note from the person who hits you and then does not need body work done!

I have been hit and run 9 times in parking lots in the last 12 years, all needing body work and all have been hit and runs! In fact I just got my new 8 week old Mini back from the shop($2000 damage) and it has been hit twice so far!

Amazing work fixing that! I never would have guessed that would come out as good as it did. I also hope you are paid back your good karma.

Thanks guys haha, hope karma pays me back in the form of acing my flight test and written test, or is that too much to ask? :nervous:

carelessness sucks, but its nice to hear some people actually do leave notes!

oh, and nice fix.

+1

Big props to her for leaving a note. It's like a double payment to karma for both of you.

Amazing recovery.

I agree its nice to see at least some people do own up to making a mistake . I just had a similar Incident with my daily driver except that the person that Rubbed my car hit an ran Luckily there was no dent just paint transfer from their car just a little M105 and prima swirl and all cleared up. Good save on the bumper.
