93 Mustang LX 5.0 and 06 BMW 330i

artikxscout - Maybe some day someone near me can bring a video camera and tape me. I do not mind sharing tips and processes. To descibe it in words...I usually sit on the ground or even lay down to get lower panels depending on the car.



P1et - I used Meguiar's Wheel Brightner diluted with water 1:1. Then wash the wheels with normal car wash soap to offset the acidic nature of the wheel cleaner. Its pretty strong stuff!!

Chris - Our Canon S3 supposedly can record for 60 minutes. Quality looked very good when I tested it.

I'm the owner of the Mustang and I can tell you Chris did an amazing job! I bought the car 5 years ago knowing the car had quite a few paint issues etc., choosing instead to focus on the mechanical stuff first. Unfortunately, I have to sell it before she's 100% (completely repainted) but I truely did not expect the car to come out like it did...wow!

I have a question...You said both days it was over 90 degrees, but did u work outside/in the sun for the BMW? Because I am having major issues getting the finish hologram free when working with the rotary in direct sunlight...but your pics look perfect.
 
what did you use on the wheels to clean them up? or better yet what would you recommend to use on wheels that havent been washed in 4 years and are caked with brake dust and who knows what else?

I do all my polishing work in the garage. The sun pics were when I pulled the car out to check my work. I couldnt imagine having to work in direct sunlight polishing. I wouldnt recommend using a rotary doing that. The sun will heat the panels up naturally to a high degree and running a rotary (which generates a lot of heat) is not a good idea imo. Too much heat = burnt paint!

I used Meg's Wheel Brightner 1:1 and assorted brushes. Extreme measures, you can pick up some #0000 fine steel wool from the local shops to get off embedded brake dust. Be careful of that method because it will leave very hazing which sometimes can be polished out. I only resort to that method if the wheels are in the worse shape and have no other options.

Sorry I must have missed it! I think I will be fine. I was refering to if someone had a high quality digital recorder. My other camera has video capabilities and I can simply set it on the tripod. Thanks for the offer though! :)
 
Chris, your work continues to amaze. Great turn around on the Mustang. Came out with nice depth and shine. The Bimmer looks better then new and is extremely WET! Love the look!!!
