93' Maxima - First time polishing...

Well, I polished my Maxima for the first time in 11 years and I'm kicking myself for not doing it sooner. The paint hasn't looked this good since my dad bought back in 93'. Plus, the polish removed a lot of the hairline scratches all over the car. Polishing by hand was a pain in the neck, but it was well worth it! Here's what I did:



-Wash w/ Dawn

-Wash w/ AmorAll car wash

-Dry, wheels, tires,

-Polish w/ Turtle Wax Polish and Scratch Remover

-Wax w/ Turtle wax Carnauba wax

It's the process not the product. Is that too hard for you to understand, young'n?





AUMaxima - your pics aren't pulling up.
 
Looks pretty darn nice for a tan car. Just keep it blingin! You'll appreciate it more.



You'd be surprised what you can do with some turtle wax...the new stuff is much much nicer than the older stuff though.

I have to agree, but I have one question, doesn't the Turtle wax scratch remover stuff just fill it in? Thats what I meant I think:?
 
AUMaxima- Welcome to Autopia. Nice job, and :xyxthumbs for taking the "products" comment is stride. Now that you have it nice, it'll be a lot less work to keep it that way.
 
nice job. yup, goes to show that it's the process, not the product, that matters. your results kinda make me curious to see if i can get similar results with some of my old stuff. :)



and welcome to autopia. just a warning, you may find yourself spending a lot more money on car care products now. ;)

Actually, a non-Autopian friend of mine has pretty good luck removing oxidation off his single stage red Civic with TW scratch & swirl remover. I haven't put it up against our known products, but there does seem to be something to this product.



I think you are thinking of their Clear Coat Polish.

I see a lot of 3rd gens that are in crap condition and I'm glad mine was garage kept for 10 years until my dad got his Lexus. BTW, do you post on Maxima.org? You should check out the 3rd gen forum. http://forums.maxima.org

check out the hall of fame for tips on detailing 3rd gens.

I think I may hold out on getting a PC, hand polishing results don't look half bad! Did you use terry applicators?
 
Where's the hall of fame and what is it? :nixweiss i know, i know NOOBIE...



Yeah, I used cotton towels to apply and remove.

Yes, I post on the .org occasionally and have been a member for a pretty long time... I'm not nearly as active anymore because the place is so darn SLOW and I'm trying to avoid mod-fever, but you'll find me helping out in the Detailing forum most often.



Not under the name "4DSC" though, as I'm sure some inactive user has taken that name long, long ago. :p I go by Bman over there.
